Administration

The commune is governed by a mayor and a municipal council. As of the 2020–2026 term, the mayor is Philippe Gouet. Courléon is part of the intercommunality known as the Communauté d'agglomération Saumur Val de Loire.


History

Courléon has existed since at least the medieval period. The village's name is believed to derive from a Gallo-Roman estate. The local church, the Église Saint-Hilaire, dates back to the 12th century and reflects Romanesque architectural styles.


Economy

The economy of Courléon is largely based on agriculture, particularly livestock farming and crop cultivation. The commune also engages in forestry and small-scale viticulture as part of the larger wine-producing region of the Loire Valley.
