As of the 2000 census, there were 2,779 people, 1,043 households, and 790 families residing in the township. The population density was . There were 1,075 housing units at an average density of . The racial makeup of the township was 98.56% White, 0.14% African American, 0.04% Native American, 0.11% Asian, and 1.15% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.40% of the population. There were 1,043 households, out of which 34.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.5% were married couples living together, 5.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.2% were non-families. 19.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.09. In the township the population was spread out, with 25.2% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 31.4% from 25 to 44, 26.3% from 45 to 64, and 11.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females, there were 102.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.1 males.
