The racial makeup of the township was 98.26% White, 1.09% African American, 0.05% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.21% from other races, and 0.23% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.74%. Of the 2,265 households 26.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.4% were married couples living together, 7.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.9% were non-families. 22.3% of households were one person and 13.2% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 2.85. The age distribution was 19.6% under the age of 18, 4.9% from 18 to 24, 24.1% from 25 to 44, 26.8% from 45 to 64, and 24.7% 65 or older. The median age was 46 years. For every 100 females, there were 93.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.7 males. The median household income was $43,347 and the median family income was $52,526.
