, and it is often incorrectly referred to as Higher Shotton. It is situated in a fairly urban area but there is still much countryside - Wepre Country Park is only a short distance away. In 2021 it had a population of 2850. In the village there are some shops, a hairdresser, an Indian takeaway, a bowling green, a park, a primary school and a hospital, Deeside Community Hospital. Aston Park Rangers is the local football team.
