in 1966. The election resulted in very few changes from the party standings at the dissolution of the previous legislature. One New Democrat incumbent was defeated by a Progressive Conservative challenger, and one Progressive Conservative incumbent was defeated by a New Democrat. The PCs picked up one seat that was previously held by an independent, and the NDP picked up one seat that was vacant at dissolution. The other 53 seats in the legislature were all retained by their incumbent parties. The popular vote was also very similar, with the New Democrats dropping 1.47% and the Progressive Conservatives gaining 1.70% overall.
