Sergeant (''kersantti'' in Finnish) is a Swedish (OR6) and Finnish (OR5) military rank above överfurir in Sweden and alikersantti in Finland; and below översergeant in Sweden and ylikersantti in Finland.http://www.goarmy.com/about/ranks_and_insignia.jsp USA enlisted ranks Finland Enlisted NCOs usually start from sergeant (OR5), in infantry platoons sergeants may serve as squad leaders (6-8 men), deputy platoon commanders (~30 men) or rarely even a platoon commanders, or at company level as Company Sergeant Majors. In the Finnish army, conscripts are first trained for 2 months in basic training and about 30% are selected for junior NCO training (''aliupseerikoulu'' or ''AUK''), which lasts 4 months. OR-5 Överfurir Armén
Oregon's 5th congressional district represents Oregon's central coast through Salem, north to the southern Portland suburbs – including a sliver of Portland itself – and east to the summit of Mount Hood. It includes Lincoln, Marion, and Polk Counties; most of Clackamas and Tillamook Counties; and parts of Benton and Multnomah Counties. The district is currently represented by Republican Lori Chavez-DeRemer, who was elected in 2022 to replace Kurt Schrader who lost renomination. Furir (from French '' fourrier'', a person responsible for the feed) is a Swedish military rank (OR5) reintroduced in 2019, after having been abolished in 2009. Duties The ''Furir'' is a Squad Leader at Skill Level B (Intermediate). History The responsibility of a Furir was to arrange for housing as well as the distribution of food in a Company. French court artist Jean Perréal was "fourrier" to Charlotte de Savoy and her daughter Anne, as well as to Margret of Austria, daughter of emperor Maximilian I. The rank became the lowest non-commissioned officer rank in 1833. Holders of the rank Furir were elevated to Sergeant and the rank was abolished in 1875. Petty Officer
A petty officer (PO) is a non-commissioned officer in many navies and is given the NATO rank denotation OR-5 or OR-6. In many nations, they are typically equal to a sergeant in comparison to other military branches. Often they may be superior to a seaman, and subordinate to more senior non-commissioned officers, such as a chief petty officers.
