École De Santé Des Armées
The École de santé des armées (ESA) is the only French military school for future doctors and pharmacists destined to serve within the Ministry of the Armed Forces. They are required to practice in the establishments specific to the health service of the armies, in particular the medical centers of the armies, the hospitals of instruction of the armies, the research centers for the benefit of the Army, the Army of the air force, the National Navy, the National Gendarmerie and military units of Civil Security. It belongs to the Lyon-Bron military health schools (EMSLB) created on September 1, 2018. His students are traditionally called "Santards". Bron
Bron () is a commune in the Metropolis of Lyon, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, eastern France. Geography Bron lies east-southeast of central Lyon. It is the sixth-largest suburb of the city of Lyon, and is adjacent to its east side. Climate History The earliest traces of life in Bron can be found in the cemetery and date from 71 BC. The town as it is today did not take shape until approximately 1812. In mid-August 1944, prisoners from Montluc prison were taken to Bron Airfield where 109 of them, including 72 Jews, were killed in what would become known as ''Le Charnier de Bron'' ("The Charnel house of Bron"). Bron was spared much of the damage caused by the riots in many of France's suburbs in the 1990s, such as in Venissieux and Villeurbanne. Military Hospital
A military hospital is a hospital owned and operated by a military. They are often reserved for the use of military personnel and their dependents, but in some countries are made available to civilians as well. They may or may not be located on a military base; many are not. Guy Charmot
Guy Charmot (9 October 1914 – 7 January 2019) was a French military doctor and member of the French resistance during World War II. Biography Childhood and education Charmot was the son of Ulysse Charmot, a tax collector, and Claire Esmieu. From a young age, Charmot wanted to be a doctor. In 1934, he began studying at École de santé des armées in Bron. He was particularly attracted to the field of military medicine, and officially became a doctor in 1937. He was posted to a medical center near hunting and game lands in Saint-Avold. In 1939, he completed his studies and entered the French Defence Health Service in Pharo. World War II In September 1939, Charmot awaited an assignment to French West Africa. He was a physician for the 49th Colonial Field Artillery Regiment, but he wanted to stay in France.
