The Postal Service
The Postal Service was an American indie pop group from Seattle, Seattle, Washington, consisting of singer Ben Gibbard, producer Dntel, Jimmy Tamborello (also known by his stage name, Dntel), and Jenny Lewis on background vocals. The band released their sole studio album, ''Give Up'', in 2003 on Sub Pop, Sub Pop Records, to mostly positive reviews. The album reached number 45 on the US Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200 album chart and received platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. The group decided to disband two years later, viewing attempts at a follow-up as unnecessary. The band has regrouped twice for the anniversaries of ''Give Up'', in both 2013 and 2023; each time they were accompanied by a rotating cast of support musicians, including Laura Burhenn, Jen Wood, Dave Depper and Jason McGerr. Dave Depper
Dave Depper is an American musician and multi-instrumentalist, best known as the guitarist and keyboardist for the indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie. Music career Depper began his career playing with various Pacific NW artists, including Menomena, Fruit Bats, Mirah, Corin Tucker, and Laura Gibson. In 2014, Depper joined Ray LaMontagne's touring band; he was later recruited by Indie Rock pioneers Death Cab for Cutie during their 2015 world tour in support of their eighth album, '' Kintsugi''. Chris Walla
Christopher Ryan Walla (born November 2, 1975) is an American musician, record producer, and film music composer, best known for being a former guitarist and songwriter for the band Death Cab for Cutie. Musical career Early bands While at Bothell High School in the early 1990s, Walla started a program called Open Microphone with creative writing teacher Laura Drumheller, as a noon-time forum for the arts, which allowed any student to take the stage and perform. Walla regularly performed at these shows, as well as serving as MC. One performance by Walla included a song by Talking Heads. These early Open Microphone shows proved popular and continued for over twenty years, moving from Bothell High School to Inglemoor High School when teacher Drumheller transferred there. Digital Audio Tape (DAT or R-DAT) is a signal recording and playback medium developed by Sony and introduced in 1987. In appearance it is similar to a Compact Cassette, using 3.81 mm / 0.15" (commonly referred to as 4 mm) magnetic tape enclosed in a protective shell, but is roughly half the size at 73 mm × 54 mm × 10.5 mm. The recording is digital rather than analog. DAT can record at sampling rates equal to, as well as higher and lower than a CD (44.1, 48, or 32 kHz sampling rate respectively) at 16 bits quantization. If a comparable digital source is copied without returning to the analogue domain, then the DAT will produce an exact clone, unlike other digital media such as Digital Compact Cassette or non- Hi-MD MiniDisc, both of which use a lossy data-reduction system. Superpitcher
Aksel Schaufler better known by his stage name Superpitcher, is a German producer affiliated with Cologne's Kompakt music label. Background Superpitcher made his first appearance on Kompakt's ''Total 2'' compilation album in 2000 with the song "Shadows". In 2001, he contributed a track to Kompakt's first Speicher 12" and released ''Heroin'', a three-track 12" with three different sounds; "Tomorrow" was later included on that year's '' Total 3''. On 2002's '' Total 4'' there was another track by Schaufler, an electropop cover of Brian Eno's "Baby's on Fire". Soon after that, Schaufler released his second 12", ''Yesterday'', which featured re-workings of the songs "Tomorrow" and "Heroin". Barbara Morgenstern (born March 19, 1971) is a German electronic music artist, keyboardist and singer. Biography Born in Hagen, Germany, Morgenstern describes herself as self-taught, although she had piano lessons as a child and jazz lessons at the school of music in Hagen. In addition to having played in a band, she decided on a career in music in 1991 after completing her schooling at the Ernst Meister Gymnasium in Hagen-Haspe. The Flaming Lips are an American psychedelic rock band formed in 1983 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Lali Puna is a German, Munich-based electropop band originally from Weilheim in Oberbayern, Germany. History Valerie Trebeljahr, the lead writer and singer, comes from Busan, Korea. The name of the band, meaning ''Valerie from Busan'', references this, as ''Lali'' is a diminutive form of ''Valerie'', and ''Puna'' is a childish spelling of Busan (which is often transliterated ''Pusan'').
