The Accüsed
The Accüsed is an American crossover thrash band from Washington (state), Washington, formed in 1981 by Chibon 'Chewy' Batterman, Dana Collins and Tommy Niemeyer. The band was a progenitor of the crossover style that bridged the gap between thrashcore and thrash metal, later influencing grindcore and some crust punk bands; as well as an influential band in the Seattle area alternative scene. The band calls their music "splatter rock", and their zombie mascot, Martha Splatterhead, created by Blaine Cook and Tommy Niemeyer, appears on most of their albums. Common lyrical themes involve social injustice and Martha Splatterhead coming back from the dead to slaughter rapists and child molesters. ''Splatterhouse'' is a horror-themed beat 'em up hack and slash video game developed and published by Namco Bandai Games in 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It is a reimagining and a reboot of the original '' Splatterhouse'' which was released in 1988. ''Splatterhouse'' received mixed reviews. While its graphics, soundtrack and voice acting were praised, it was criticised for its controls, difficulty, glitches and repetitive gameplay. ''The Curse of Martha Splatterhead'' is an LP Record, LP by Oak Harbor, Washington crossover thrash band the Accüsed. It was released in 2009 with a reformed line-up on Southern Lord Records. Reception According to Sputnikmusic, "The songs on the album are awesome, there really is no other way to put it. This album is nothing but fourteen songs of pure crossover thrash, stripped down so that you experience the full brutality of The Curse Of Martha Splatterhead. Each song is propelled along by Tommy Niemeyer’s riffs which go from thrash to hardcore to punk with ease and he even slips in the odd sloppy solo which works superbly in the context of these songs. Most songs are clearly thrash, although they have a punky sound to them as well. Niemeyer is backed up by Dorando Hodous on bass and Mike Peterson on drums, who just keep adding to this deadly combination.
