Supraorganization
A supraorganization is an organization whose members or stakeholders are organizations rather than individuals and which performs an overarching function. Some organizations may have membership of both organizations and individuals. These are usually described as "federations". "Coalitions", " networks", "confederations", and " unions" are also terms that are sometimes used, although these are just as frequently used to refer to organizations composed of individuals. The term is also used in microbiology. Umbrella Organization
An umbrella organization is an association of (often related, industry-specific) institutions who work together formally to coordinate activities and/or pool resources. In business, political, and other environments, it provides resources and identities to the smaller organizations. In this kind of arrangement, it is sometimes responsible, to some degree, for the groups under its care. Umbrella organizations are prominent in Cooperative, cooperatives and in civil society, and can engage in advocacy or collective bargaining on behalf of their members. A coalition is formed when two or more people or groups temporarily work together to achieve a common goal. The term is most frequently used to denote a formation of power in political, military, or economic spaces. Confederation
A confederation (also known as a confederacy or league) is a political union of sovereign states united for purposes of common action. Usually created by a treaty, confederations of states tend to be established for dealing with critical issues, such as defence, foreign relations, internal trade or currency, with the central government being required to provide support for all its members. Economic Union
An economic union is a type of trade bloc which is composed of a common market with a customs union. The participant countries have both common policies on product regulation, freedom of movement of goods, services and the factors of production ( capital and labour) as well as a common external trade policy. When an economic union involves unifying currency, it becomes an economic and monetary union. The purposes for establishing an economic union normally include increasing economic efficiency and establishing closer political and cultural ties between the member countries.
