Shooting
Shooting is the act or process of discharging a projectile from a ranged weapon (such as a gun, bow, crossbow, slingshot, or blowpipe). Even the acts of launching flame, artillery, darts, harpoons, grenades, rockets, and guided missiles can be considered acts of shooting. When using a firearm, the act of shooting is often called firing as it involves initiating a combustion ( deflagration) of chemical propellants. is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tsukasa Ōshima. It was published in Kodansha's ''Weekly Shōnen Magazine'' between 1990 and 2003. "Shoot" is a controversial American comic book story that was scheduled to appear in the 141st issue of the horror series ''Hellblazer'' in 1999, published by DC Comics under its Vertigo imprint. Written by Warren Ellis and illustrated by Phil Jimenez and Andy Lanning, "Shoot" follows a researcher who searches for the cause of school shootings; she eventually discovers that John Constantine, the magic-using protagonist of ''Hellblazer'', was present at several massacres. Constantine explains to her that he has been looking into the phenomenon, and says it happens because the victims have lost the will to live. Shoot wrestling is a Japanese hybrid grappling style and combat sport. Shoot wrestling incorporates techniques from various wrestling, submission grappling, kickboxing and karate styles. ''Shoot'' was a 1971 performance by Chris Burden, in which he arranged to have himself non-lethally shot. Description On November 19, 1971, at the F-Space gallery in Santa Ana, California, Bruce Dunlap (a friend of Chris Burden, the artist) raised a .22 long rifle, .22-caliber rifle at a distance of 15 feet (4.57 m) from Burden and shot him in the left arm. The performance was documented in an eight-second video on 16mm film and photographs. There was a small audience for the performance, including the videographer and photographer. The work was later presented through documentary photographs and text from Burden. Analysis Burden said that the performance came from the common folklore and televisual motif of getting shot in the United States, whether real or faked, without knowing how it actually felt. A shoot in professional wrestling is any unplanned, unscripted, or real-life occurrence within a wrestling event. It is a carny term shortened from "straight shooting", which originally referred to a gun in a carnival target shooting game that did ''not'' have its sights misaligned. Terminology such as this reflects the professional wrestling industry's roots in traveling carnivals. Initially, the term referred to practice or ability in catch wrestling as a legitimate sport. It has since come to mean any legit attack or fight in professional wrestling regardless of the combat system employed, and its meaning has broadened to include unscripted events in general.
