Sharbat (drink)
Sharbat (, ; also transliterated or written as ''shorbot'', ''šerbet'', ''şerbet'' or ''sherbet'') is a drink prepared from fruit or flower petals. It is a sweet cordial, and usually served chilled. It can be served in concentrated form and eaten with a spoon or diluted with water to create the drink. Popular ''sharbats'' are made of one or more of the following: basil seeds, rose water, fresh rose petals, sandalwood, '' bael'', hibiscus, lemon, orange, mango, pineapple, grape, '' falsa'' (''Grewia asiatica'') and chia seeds. ''Sharbat'' is common in homes of Iran, Turkey, Bosnia, Arab world, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh and India, and popularly consumed by Muslims when breaking their daily fast during the month of Ramadan. Sharbat Gula
Sharbat Gula (; born ) is an Afghan woman who became internationally recognized as the subject in ''Afghan Girl'', a 1984 portrait taken by American photojournalist Steve McCurry that was later published as the cover photograph for the June 1985 issue of ''National Geographic''. The portrait was shot at Nasir Bagh, Nasir Bagh, Pakistan, while Gula was residing there as an Afghan refugees, Afghan refugee fleeing the Soviet–Afghan War. Despite the photograph's high global recognition, Gula's identity remained unknown until 2002, when her whereabouts were verified and she was photographed for the second time in her life. Having lived and raised a family in Pakistan for 35 years, Gula was arrested by Pakistani authorities in 2016 and subsequently deported to Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Afghanistan in 2017 on the charge of possessing forged identity documents. Sharbat Ali Changezi
Sharbat Ali Changezi (Urdu: ; b. 10 March 1932), is a retired three-star air officer in the Pakistan Air Force and a former fighter pilot who led the aerial operations in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 and 1971. In 1955, Changezi notably refused to meet the Afghan Monarch Zahir Shah, while he was on visit to Pakistan, because of the ill-treatment meted out to the Hazara people in Afghanistan.
