President Of The Liberal Democrats
The president of the Liberal Democrats chairs the Federal Board of the Liberal Democrats of the United Kingdom. The responsibilities of the president are similar to that of chairman of the Conservative Party or chairman of the Labour Party, although the role is elected by the membership for a fixed term. They are elected in an all-member ballot by Liberal Democrat party members for a three-year term (previously two-year terms). They may serve a maximum of two three-year terms. The next scheduled contest will occur in Autumn 2022 with the winner beginning their term of office on 1 January 2023. The election is conducted using the Single Transferable Vote. The current president is Mark Pack, who was elected in 2019 and took office on 1 January 2020. Mark Pack
Mark Anthony Pack (born 27 July 1970) is a British politician who has served as the president of the Liberal Democrats since 1 January 2020. After the party's leader, Jo Swinson, lost her seat in the 2019 December election, Pack served as acting leader alongside Ed Davey from 1 January 2020 to 27 August 2020, when Davey was elected as leader. Career Pack read History and Economics at the University of York from 1988 to 1991. He then undertook a PhD in history, studying nineteenth-century elections, initially at the University of Exeter, before transferring back to the University of York to complete it, in 1994. He then worked as an IT administrator, before working for the Liberal Democrats from 2000 to 2009. Rosalind Carol "Ros" Scott, Baroness Scott of Needham Market (born 10 August 1957) is a British Liberal Democrat politician, non-exec director of the National Archives and a member of the House of Lords. Baroness Scott was president of the Liberal Democrats between 1 January 2009 and 31 December 2010 and was succeeded by Tim Farron. Early life and education The daughter of Kenneth Vincent and Carol Leadbeater, she was born in Bath, Somerset. Diana Maddock
Diana Margaret Maddock, Baroness Maddock, Lady Beith (; 19 May 1945 – 26 June 2020) was a British Liberal Democrat politician. She was elected as Member of Parliament (MP) for Christchurch in a 1993 by-election but lost the seat at the subsequent 1997 general election to Conservative Christopher Chope. She re-entered Parliament as a life peer as Baroness Maddock, of Christchurch in the County of Dorset, in 1997 where she remained until her death. Navnit Dholakia, Baron Dholakia (born 4 March 1937) is a British Liberal Democrat politician and the Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats in the House of Lords. Susan Veronica Kramer, Baroness Kramer PC (''née'' Richards; born 21 July 1950) is a British politician and life peer who served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Richmond Park from 2005 to 2010. Elizabeth Lynne (born 22 January 1948) is a British politician, and was a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the West Midlands for the Liberal Democrats from the 1999 European election until she retired in 2012.
