Pensioners' Party
Pensioners' Party or Party of Pensioners is a name commonly adopted by political organizations composed primarily of people who have a pension (generally elderly retirees) and who are interested in issues affecting their demographic group. However, while some political parties appeal predominantly or significantly to elderly voters in terms of their demographic appeal, they may not be formally designated as a 'pensioners party'. Several populist, social conservative and nationalist parties within Western Europe, as well as New Zealand First, possess such attributes. Pension
A pension (; ) is a fund into which amounts are paid regularly during an individual's working career, and from which periodic payments are made to support the person's retirement from work. A pension may be either a " defined benefit plan", where defined periodic payments are made in retirement and the sponsor of the scheme (e.g. the employer) must make further payments into the fund if necessary to support these defined retirement payments, or a " defined contribution plan", under which defined amounts are paid in during working life, and the retirement payments are whatever can be afforded from the fund. Pensions should not be confused with severance pay; the former is usually paid in regular amounts for life after retirement, while the latter is typically paid as a fixed amount after involuntary termination of employment before retirement. The Party of Pensioners of Ukraine () is a political party in Ukraine registered in November 1999. Although the party plays no role nationwide, it enjoys popularity in Kharkiv Oblast. History The party was not allowed to participate in the electoral alliance "Rainbow" in the Ukrainian 2002 parliamentary elections. The party ran independently in the 2006 parliamentary elections winning 0.20% of the votes and no seats. In the 30 September 2007 elections, the party failed again as part of the Bloc of the Party of Pensioners of Ukraine to win parliamentary representation. Amram Petrosyan headed the party between 2010 and 2012. Under his leadership, the party achieved the highest success in its history, taking the 9th place in the 2012 Ukrainian parliamentary elections. The Russian Party of Pensioners for Social Justice (RPPSJ; ), commonly shortened to the Party of Pensioners () is a registered political party in Russia. The party was founded as the Party of Pensioners (Общественно-Политичеcкая организация) in 1997. On 29 November 1997 Sergei Atroshenko was elected as the first chairman. The Pensioners' Party (''Partito Pensionati'', PP) is a centrist Italian political party, whose aim is to represent the interests of pensioners. The Pensioners' Party (; NYUP), was a minor political party in Hungary between 1990 and 2007. History It was founded by the National Association of Pensioners' Associations within the Patriotic People's Front (HNF) under the name Party of Generations, Party of Pensioners and Families () in January 1990. During its inaugural meeting, jurist Vilmos Michaletzky was elected leader of the party. The NYUP worked for the interests of pensioners, and the party mainly focuses on issues related to health care, taxes and pensioners' issues. The party also had a Christian socialist ideology. The NYUP supported the ideas of family tax benefit and housing subsidies. The Scottish Senior Citizens Unity Party (SSCUP), later the All-Scotland Pensioners Party from March 2011, was a minor Scottish political party. It was formed on 3 February 2003, in time to contest that year's elections to the Scottish Parliament. The leading figure in its formation and its first leader was John Swinburne, previously a director of Motherwell Football Club. Swinburne was inspired to form the party after reading the UK government's plans for pensions in December 2002: he felt it was unfair that people might have to work longer in the future and consequently have less time to enjoy their retirement. Pensioners Party was an English political party for pensioners. The leader was Roger Edwards. They contested two European Parliament elections: in 2004, they stood in the West Midlands, receiving 33,501 votes (2.3%, 0.1% behind Respect); they stood in the South West in 2009, campaigning for non means-tested index linked state pensions, immigration control, replacing council tax with a local income tax, and keeping Imperial units and the Pound.
