Loyalty, in general use, is a devotion and faithfulness to a nation, cause, philosophy, country, group, or person. Philosophers disagree on what can be an object of loyalty, as some argue that loyalty is strictly interpersonal and only another human being can be the object of loyalty. ''Loyal'' is a 1988 album by New Zealand singer-songwriter Dave Dobbyn. After the Footrot Flats album, Loyal moved him further away from the pub rock of DD Smash and into contemporary pop rock. The album "confronts love, loyalty and the power of personal politics." The album reached number 9 on the New Zealand music charts. The hit single Slice of Heaven from the Footrot Flats soundtrack was also included on the album, despite it being nearly two years old at the time of the album release. Dobbyn commented that the song fitted in with the general theme of loyalty. Track listing Charts Awards 'Loyal' was awarded 'Best Album' at the 1988 New Zealand Music Awards. Dobbyn was also awarded 'Best Male Vocalist' (for the second year in a row). Loyal (Dave Dobbyn Song)
"Loyal" is a single by New Zealand singer/songwriter Dave Dobbyn, released in 1988 from the album of the same name. The song reached number 19 on the New Zealand charts and has since become a cult song for the nation. Background Dobbyn wrote the song in Sydney, with the opening harmonic progression coming about from playing with a newly bought guitar. He co-produced the single, and in retrospect is not entirely happy with the result, preferring live versions such as that from the Together in Concert: Live tour with Bic Runga and Tim Finn. Music video The music video for Loyal was directed by Kerry Brown and is a one-shot video of Dobbyn and a woman moving out of a house. It was met with mixed reception and there is some argument about the appropriateness of the imagery for the song. Dobbyn's patterned jersey also received some derision. Loyal is a town in Kingfisher County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 79 at the 2010 census. History A large share of the early settlers being natives of Germany, the original name of the settlement was "Kiel", after the city in northern Germany. Ben Loyal
Ben Loyal (). is an isolated mountain of 764 m in Sutherland, the northwestern tip of the Scottish Highlands. It is a Corbett located south of the Kyle of Tongue and offers good views of the Kyle, Loch Loyal to the east, and Ben Hope to the west. Ben Loyal is composed chiefly of granite - specifically syenite, and has a distinctive shape due to the four rocky peaks, the highest of which is called An Caisteal. To the north of An Caisteal is the 712 m Sgòr Chaonasaid, to the south is Bheinn Bheag (744 m), which cannot be seen in the photograph opposite, and to the west is the ridge of Sgòr a Chèirich, 644 m at its highest point. The fourth peak in the picture is the 568 m Sgòr Fionnaich. Ben Loyal's name is thought to mean "law mountain", although the derivation via its modern Gaelic name is not certain.
