Interface (Java)
An interface in the Java programming language is an abstract type that is used to declare a behavior that classes must implement. They are similar to protocols. Interfaces are declared using the interface keyword, and may only contain method signature and constant declarations (variable declarations that are declared to be both static and final). All methods of an Interface do not contain implementation (method bodies) as of all versions below Java 8. Starting with Java 8, default and static methods may have implementation in the interface definition. Then, in Java 9, private and private static methods were added. At present, a Java interface can have up to six different types. Interfaces cannot be instantiated, but rather are implemented. In object-oriented programming, an interface or protocol type is a data type that acts as an abstraction of a Class (computer science), class. It describes a set of method signatures, the implementations of which may be provided by multiple class (computer programming), classes that are otherwise not necessarily related to each other. A class which provides the methods listed in an interface is said to ''implement'' the interface, or to ''adopt'' the protocol. Javadoc
Javadoc (also capitalized as JavaDoc or javadoc) is an API documentation generator for the Java programming language. Based on information in Java source code, Javadoc generates documentation formatted as HTML and other formats via extensions. Javadoc was created by Sun Microsystems and is owned by Oracle today. The content and formatting of a resulting document are controlled via special markup in source code comments. Marker Interface
The marker interface pattern is a design pattern in computer science, used with languages that provide run-time type information about objects. It provides a means to associate metadata with a class where the language does not have explicit support for such metadata. To use this pattern, a class implements a marker interface (also called tagging interface) which is an empty interface, and methods that interact with instances of that class test for the existence of the interface.
