Bendigo East is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria. It covers an area of covering the part of the city of Bendigo east of the Yungera railway line and surrounding rural areas to the north, east and south. It includes the Bendigo suburbs of East Bendigo, Epsom, Flora Hill, Junortoun, Kennington, Quarry Hill, Spring Gully, Strathdale, Strathfieldsaye and White Hills, and the surrounding towns of Axedale, Goornong, Huntly, Mandurang, Raywood and Sedgwick. It also includes parts of the localities of Eaglehawk, Elmore, Golden Square and Ravenswood, and the Bendigo campus of La Trobe University. Jacinta Allan
Jacinta Marie Allan (born 19 September 1973) is an Australian politician serving as the 29th and current Deputy Premier of Victoria, deputy premier of Victoria since June 2022. She is a member of the Australian Labor Party (Victorian Branch), Victorian Branch of the Australian Labor Party (Victorian Branch), Australian Labor Party and has been a member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly (MLA) since 1999 for the division of electoral district of Bendigo East, Bendigo East. Axedale, Victoria
Axedale is a small town in Victoria, Australia. It is located on the McIvor Highway, in the City of Greater Bendigo, east of Bendigo. It was surveyed and proclaimed in 1861. At the 2016 census, Axedale had a population of 802. The town is nestled alongside the Campaspe River which feeds out of Lake Eppalock (about 20 minutes drive away). It has a golf course, tennis courts, a school, a pub and a convenience store/petrol station. It lies between Heathcote and Bendigo. Axedale has at least four churches, approximately one for every 220 residents of the town. In years past, it was host to The Titanic Museum, a home-based museum notable for charging fees to behold a 90 cm replica of the famous vessel. The Post Office opened on 21 April 1862. Bendigo West is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria. It is a electorate centred on the city of Bendigo west of the Yungera railway line, and including surrounding rural towns to the west and south-west. It encompasses the localities of Bendigo City, California Gully, Castlemaine, Harcourt, Long Gully, Maldon, Marong, Newstead and West Bendigo. It also includes parts of the Bendigo suburbs of Eaglehawk, Golden Square and Kangaroo Flat. It lies within the Northern Victoria Region of the upper house, the Legislative Council. The Victorian Legislative Council (VLC) is the upper house of the bicameral Parliament of Victoria, Australia, the lower house being the Legislative Assembly. Both houses sit at Parliament House in Spring Street, Melbourne. The Legislative Council serves as a house of review, in a similar fashion to its federal counterpart, the Australian Senate. Although, it is possible for legislation to be first introduced in the Council, most bills receive their first hearing in the Legislative Assembly. Golden Square is a suburb of Bendigo in Victoria, Australia. Its local government area is the City of Greater Bendigo. At the 2021 census, Golden Square had a population of 9,220. Elmore is a small town in Victoria north-east of Bendigo on the Campaspe River. Elmore is close to the Whipstick State Park. At the , Elmore had a population of 776. Eaglehawk is a suburb within the City of Greater Bendigo and a former gold-mining town in Victoria, Australia. The town is situated to the north-west of Bendigo on the Loddon Valley Highway. The highway is known locally as High Street until the intersection with Sailors Gully Road (Bendigo - Pyramid Road) and as Peg Leg Road to the west. Located on this intersection is Brassey Square which is the location of the town hall. Next to the town hall is the former post office and the Mechanics' Institute. Sedgwick is a locality in Central Victoria, Australia. It is located in the City of Greater Bendigo. Facilities include a public hall that opened in 1958 and CFA Rural fire station. It was named Upper Emu Creek until 1901 when it was renamed as Sedgwick after British geologist Adam Sedgwick. Emu Creek is a suburb North East of Sedgwick. History The First Freehold land was granted in 1854. In 1863 The Great Eastern Mine was founded in Sedgwick.
