Drill 'n' Bass
Drill 'n' bass is a subgenre of drum and bass which developed in the mid-1990s as intelligent dance music, IDM artists began experimenting with elements of jungle music, jungle and breakbeat hardcore, breakbeat music. Artists utilized powerful digital audio workstation, audio software to program frenzied, irregular beats that often discouraged dancing. Luke Vibert
Luke Vibert (born 26 January 1973) is a British electronic musician and producer, also known for his work under several aliases such as Plug and Wagon Christ. Raised in Cornwall, Vibert began releasing projects in the 1990s across varied genres, including techno, drum and bass, and trip hop. He has recorded on labels such as Rephlex, Ninja Tune, Planet Mu, and Warp. Early years: 1990s Vibert's first musical output was in a variety of bands, including a punk act called Five Minute Fashion and later a Beastie Boys-esque group called the Hate Brothers, but he quickly moved into the low-cost environment of solo electronic composition. Vibert grew up in Cornwall and attended the Wesleyan Methodist Truro School along with a number of key members of Aphex Twin's Rephlex Records crew. John Roome (born 26 August 1968, a.k.a. Witchman) is a hip hop/breakbeat artist who has worked with The Orb and The Jungle Brothers. ''Drum 'n' Bass for Papa'' is a studio album by Luke Vibert, released under the alias Plug. It was originally released by Blue Planet Recordings in 1996, and in 1997 on Trent Reznor's Nothing Records with the bonus addition of Vibert's previous three Plug EPs. ''NME'' listed it as the 33rd best album of 1996. Writing for ''Chicago Reader'', Peter Margasak listed it as the 9th best album of 1996. Release Originally released by Blue Planet Recordings in 1996, the album has gone through several different releases. The first was a CD release with an additional bonus disc, titled ''Drum 'n' Bass for Papa + Special Edition CD'', released in 1997. It had different cover art and the discs were colored dark blue instead of the original sepia tone. The album was released again on Trent Reznor's label Nothing Records on 9 September 1997.
