In philately, the term cover pertains to the outside of an envelope or Mail, package with an address, typically with postage stamps that have been Cancellation (mail), cancelled and is a term generally used among stamp and postal history collectors. The term does not include the contents of the letter or package, although they may add interest to the item if still present. Cover collecting plays an important role in postal history as many covers bear stamps, postmarks and other markings along with names and addresses all of which help to place a cover at a given time and place in history. History The term originates from the practice of covering a letter by folding a separate sheet about it to physically protect it and prevent infringement of confidentiality. ''Covers'' is the eighth studio album by English acoustic roots duo Show of Hands. The album was released in 2000 by the duo's own label Hands on Music. The album exclusively features cover versions of thirteen songs by the duo, chosen and recorded to reflect the band's contemporary musical influences. As such, the album contains no Steve Knightley compositions. The album was recorded over two days in Chudleigh Town Hall, Devon, with producer Gerald O'Farrell, and features only "straight performances", with its songs being untouched by post-production or techniques such as overdubbing or double tracking, presenting a "live" sound. The Autumns were an American indie rock band based in Los Angeles, California, comprising Matthew Kelly (vocals, guitar), Frankie Koroshec (guitar), Dustin Morgan ( bass) and Steve Elkins (drums). ''Covers'' is an extended play by Scottish indie rock band Franz Ferdinand released in 2011. The entire EP consists of songs from the 2009 album '' Tonight: Franz Ferdinand'' covered by different artists. Overview The EP was first released on 16 April 2011 for the Record Store Day on 12" vinyl and later on 2 May 2011 on CD. From five songs of the EP Franz Ferdinand perform only on the first track, "Live Alone", which is covered by Debbie Harry. Other tracks feature Stephin Merritt, LCD Soundsystem, ESG and Peaches. Break of Reality (BoR) is an American cello rock band consisting of three cellists and a percussionist. The group is associated with the terms "cinematic rock", " cello rock", and "indie classical". Break of Reality's current members are Patrick Laird, Ivan Trevino, Laura Metcalf, and Adrian Daurov. The band's sound consists of many musical influences, such as rock, classical, and indie rock.
