The Chairman of the Mäjilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan (; ) is a presiding officer of the lower house Mäjilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, and is responsible for opening sessions, preside over regular and extraordinary joint meetings. The post was formed on 30 January 1996 at the first parliamentary session opening after the 1995 Kazakh constitutional referendum, 1995 constitutional referendum which was held in August 1995 where majority of Kazakh voters approved of the new constitution which created a bicameral legislature that included the lower chamber Mäjilis. Erlan Jaqanūly Qoşanov (, ; born 14 August 1962), sometimes romanized as Yerlan Koshanov, is a Kazakh politician who is serving as the member and Chairman of the Mäjilis, chairman of the Mäjilis since 2022. Prior to that, he served as the Presidential Administration of Kazakhstan, Aqorda Chief of Staff under Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's administration from 2019 to 2022, äkim of Karaganda Region from 2017 to 2019 and the head of the Prime Minister's Office (Kazakhstan), Prime Minister's Office from 2012 to 2017. Amanat (political Party)
Amanat (; ; officially stylized in all caps), previously known as Nur Otan (; ), is a Ruling party, ruling List of political parties in Kazakhstan, political party of Kazakhstan and the largest political association in the country, with around 800,000 members as of 2023. The party holds a majority of seats in the Mäjilis, the lower house of Parliament of Kazakhstan, maintaining its dominant influence in the nation's legislature. Baqtyqoja Salahatdinūly Izmuhambetov (, ''Baqtyqoja Salahatdinūly Izmūhambetov''; born 1 September 1947) is a Kazakh politician who is currently serving as a Member of the Mäjilis since March 2023 from the Amanat party. Kabibullah Kabenuly Dzhakupov (, ; born 16 September 1949) is a Kazakh politician and civil engineer. He served as the Chairman of the Mäjilis from 2014 to 2016 while being a member of the lower chamber Mäjilis from 2007 to 2021. Career Dzhakupov was born into a Muslim family on 16 September 1949 in a village in the West Kazakhstan Region. Nurlan Zairollauly Nigmatulin (, , born 31 August 1961) is a Kazakh politician who served as the Chairman of the Mäjilis from 22 June 2016 to 1 February 2022 and from 20 January 2012 to 3 April 2014.
