Charles Ailing Gifford
Charles Alling Gifford (July 17, 1860 – May 3, 1937) was an American architect and a partner in the New York City firm of Gifford & Bates. He is best remembered for his resort hotels, but also designed houses, churches, and five armories for the New Jersey National Guard. Biography The son of John Archer Gifford (1831–1924) and Mary Jane (née Alling) Gifford (1835–1909), Charles Alling Gifford was born in Newark, New Jersey on July 17, 1860. He attended the Latin School in Newark, and graduated in 1881 from the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey. Ailing Dojčin ( sr, Болани Дојчин or , Bulgarian: Болен Дойчин, ''Bolen Doychin'', Macedonian: Болен Дојчин, ''Bolen Dojčin'') is a hero of South Slavic epic poetry, atypical for being depicted as an ill person.Delić 2011, pp. 116–19 Narrative The poems about Ailing Dojčin, though differing in details, follow the same basic line of narrative. Black Arab comes to the city of Salonica and imposes a daily tax upon its citizens, which includes a young woman for his entertainment. Li Ling-Ai
Li Ling-Ai (李靈愛, also Gladys) (May 19, 1908 – October 2003) was a noted Chinese-American film producer, born in Hawaii, the sixth of nine children. Both her parents were first-generation Chinese immigrants who became doctors in Hawaii. Father Li Khai-Fai was a physiologist. Her mother Kong Tai Heong was an obstetrician. She attended Punahou School and graduated from the University of Hawaii in 1930. Life in China and return to the United States Prior to the outbreak of the Second Sino-Japanese War, she lived in China, studying Chinese music and directing theatre productions at the Beijing Institute of Fine Arts. Forced to leave China during the war, she returned to the United States and created theatre productions for the American Bureau of Medical Aid to China Fund Raising Program.
