Aldona is a village in the Taluka of Bardez in the Indian state of Goa. It is known for producing several prominent Goans. Geography Aldona is located at at an average elevation of . Mapusa River
Mapusa River (Rio de Mapuça) river is one of the main tributary of the River Mandovi in Goa, India. The river originates from the jungles of Dumacem and Amthane, meanders eastward and then southward before it drains itself in the Mandovi river at Penha de France. Mapusa River has separated Corjuem from mainland Aldona. The Assonora River is the main tributary of Mapusa River. It is situated 12 km from the mapusa city which is a capital of the Bardez taluka and is one of the largest towns of Goa. It flows 20 kilometres in western direction. ''Bardez'' ( kok, Bardes; pt, Bardes; IPA: ) is a ''taluka'' of the North Goa district in the Indian state of Goa. It was a '' concelho'' in the Portuguese State of India before 1961. Etymology The name is credited to the Saraswat Brahmin immigrants who emigrated to the Konkan via Magadha plains in northern India. Rosario Alfred Fernandes (5 August 1932 − 21 October 2003), better known by his stage name Alfred Rose, was a Goan tiatrist. He was one of the most popular singers and composers of Konkani songs (of the ''cantaram'' category), and is routinely broadcast on the Panaji or Panjim station of All India Radio ( Akashvani). He is believed to have sung or composed, or both, around 5000 Konkani songs during his career. Early life Alfred Rose was born in Carona, Aldona to tiatrist A. M. B. Dom Filipe Neri António Sebastião do Rosário Ferrão (born 20 January 1953) is an Indian prelate of the Catholic Church. He has served as Archbishop of Goa and Daman since 2004, and previously as an auxiliary bishop of the same archdiocese from 1993 to 2004. Ferrão was created a cardinal by Pope Francis in 2022.
