Ghassanids
The Ghassanids, also known as the Jafnids, were an Tribes of Arabia, Arab tribe. Originally from South Arabia, they migrated to the Levant in the 3rd century and established what would eventually become a Christian state, Christian kingdom under the aegis of the Byzantine Empire. However, some of the Ghassanids may have already adhered to Christianity before they emigrated from South Arabia to escape religious persecution. As a Byzantine vassal, the Ghassanids participated in the Roman–Persian Wars, Byzantine–Sasanian Wars, fighting against the Sasanian Empire, Sasanian-allied Lakhmid kingdom, Lakhmids, who were also an Arabian tribe, but adhered to the non-Chalcedonian Church of the East. Syed Nomanul Haq (Nu'man al-Haqq) (; born February 15, 1948 in Karachi, Pakistan) is a Pakistani scholar and historian specialised in the fields of Islamic history and Islamic philosophy. He is currently a visiting distinguished professor at the Habib University, Habib University, Karachi. Life and career Nomanul Haq was born in Pakistan, but spent most of his early life in England and the USA. At Hull University he received an undergraduate degree in applied physics and at University College London he studied the history of science and philosophy. Maarat al-Numan (), also known as al-Ma'arra, is a city in northwestern Syria, south of Idlib and north of Hama, with a population of about 58,008 before the Civil War (2004 census). In 2017, it was estimated to have a population of 80,000, including several displaced by fighting in neighbouring towns. Nuaman
Nuaman or Khallet an Nu'man (, meaning "Grace"), also written Nu'man, al-Numan/an-Nu'man, is a small village located just north of Beit Sahour in the Bethlehem Governorate, Palestinian Governorate of Bethlehem. The Israeli government incorporated its territory within Positions on Jerusalem, Jerusalem after the Israeli occupation of the West Bank in the 1967 Six-Day War. The village is regarded as neither part of the West Bank, nor part of Jerusalem. A United Nations report has described the villagers as "living in limbo."
