Zimbabwe Women's National Field Hockey Team
The Zimbabwe women's national field hockey team is the national women's team representing Zimbabwe in field hockey. It Zimbabwe women's national field hockey team at the 1980 Summer Olympics, won the gold medal at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, Soviet Union, USSR, the first female Olympic tournament. Zimbabwe also won the inaugural Hockey African Cup for Nations they hosted in 1990, followed by a silver medal in 1994 and a bronze in 1998. Hockey Association Of Zimbabwe
The Hockey Association of Zimbabwe or HAZ is the sports governing body, governing body of field hockey in Zimbabwe. Its headquarters are in Harare, Zimbabwe. It is affiliated to IHF International Hockey Federation and AHF African Hockey Federation. History The Hockey Association of Zimbabwe was formed in 1925. On 19 September 2014, Mrs Virginia Ross was made an Honorary Life Member of the Hockey Association of Zimbabwe. 2019 Women's African Olympic Qualifier
The 2019 Women's African Olympic Qualifier was the fourth edition of the African qualification tournament for the women's field hockey event at the Summer Olympics. It was held alongside the men's tournament in Stellenbosch, South Africa from 12 to 18 August 2019. The winner of the tournament qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics. 2015 African Olympic Qualifier (field Hockey)
The 2015 African Olympic Qualifier was the third edition of the African Olympic Qualifier for Men and Women. It was held from 23 October to 1 November 2015 in Randburg, South Africa. Nine teams competed in the men's and seven in the women's tournament. The winner of the tournament qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics. On 30 October South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) published a statement reiterating that it will not consider qualifying though the continental qualifying tournament acceptable. SASCOC and the South African Hockey Association had previously specified 2014-15 FIH Hockey World League as the only Olympic selection route for the South Africa men's and women's national field hockey teams. The 2011 African Olympic Qualifier was the second edition of the African field hockey qualification tournament for the Summer Olympics for men and women. It was held from 2 to 11 September in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Six teams competed in the men's tournament, while four women's teams participated. The 2007 African Olympic Qualifier was the first edition of the African field hockey qualification tournament for the Summer Olympics for men and women. It was held from 14 to 22 July 2007 in Nairobi, Kenya. The 2025 Women's Hockey Africa Cup of Nations will be the ninth edition of the Women's Hockey Africa Cup of Nations, the quadrennial international women's field hockey championship of Africa organised by the African Hockey Federation. In March 2025 it was announced that the tournament would be held alongside the men's tournament in Ismailia, Egypt from 11 to 18 October 2025. The winner will qualify for the 2026 Women's FIH Hockey World Cup. Qualification The highest-ranked team in the FIH Women's World Ranking qualified directly for the tournament while the other teams had to play in the regional qualifiers. The top two teams from each regional qualifier qualified for the tournament. The three regions were North-East Africa, North-West Africa, and Central-South Africa. The 2022 Women's Hockey Africa Cup of Nations was the eighth edition of the Women's Hockey Africa Cup of Nations, the quadrennial international women's field hockey championship of Africa organised by the African Hockey Federation. In February 2021 it was announced that the tournament would be held alongside the 2022 Men's Hockey Africa Cup of Nations, men's tournament at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium in Accra, Ghana from 17 to 23 January 2022.
