Western Region Football League
The Western Football Netball League (WFNL) is a semi-professional Australian rules football and netball league, based in the western suburbs of Melbourne. History The league was formed in 1931 as the Footscray District Football League (FDFL). During the 1950s, the VFL club Western Bulldogs, Footscray was financially backing the competition, so they decided to bar clubs that were inside the zone. This resulted in six clubs leaving. More changes occurred in 1952 as the league decided that clubs had to provide an under-18 competition; this action reduced the club numbers down to twelve. The next initiative was the introduction of an under-16 competition in 1954. In 1988, the league absorbed clubs from the West Suburban Football League; and, in 2000, to reflect the fact that the league had expanded across the western suburbs, it changed its name to the Western Region Football League (WRFL). In 2002, the league, in particular its second Division, found itself a national audience w ...

Western Region Of British Railways
The Western Region was a region of British Railways from 1948. The region ceased to be an operating unit in its own right on completion of the "Organising for Quality" initiative on 6 April 1992. The Region consisted principally of ex-Great Western Railway lines, minus certain lines west of Birmingham, which were transferred to the London Midland Region in 1963 and with the addition of all former Southern Railway routes west of Exeter, which were subsequently rationalised. History When British Railways was created at the start of 1948, it was immediately subdivided into six Regions, largely based upon pre-nationalisation ownership. The Western Region initially consisted of the former Great Western Railway system, totalling 3,782 route miles and with its headquarters at Paddington. To this was added some minor railways and joint lines in which the GWR had an interest: * Brynmawr and Western Valleys Railway * Clifton Extension Railway * Easton and Church Hope Railway *Great ...

Western Region (Boy Scouts Of America)
Council Service Territories (CSTs) are the administrative regions of Scouting America. Previously, the term “region” was used until June 2021, when the organization moved to “National Service Territories”. The transition from four regions to sixteen National Service Territories was made as an effort to reduce staff plus save costs. At the territory level, there is minimal staff and no board or committee structure. In 2024, NSTs were renamed to Council Service Territories and several CST boundaries were updated. Additionally, two territories were merged into adjacent ones, resulting in a total of 14 Council Service Territories. Background Until 2021, operations of Scouting America were divided into four regions for administrative purposes - Central, Southern, Western, and Northeast. Each region was then subdivided into areas. Each region had a volunteer president, assisted by volunteer officers and board members, and the day-to-day work of Scouting was managed by the reg ...
