Yugoslavia In The Eurovision Song Contest 1971
Yugoslavia was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1971 with the song "", composed by Ivan Krajač, with lyrics by Zvonimir Golob, and performed by Krunoslav Slabinac. The Yugoslav participating broadcaster, (JRT), selected its entry through ''1971''. Before Eurovision ''1971'' The Yugoslav national final to select their entry, was held on 20 February at the Komunalni center Hall in Domžale. The hosts were Helena Koder and . There were 9 songs in the final, from three subnational public broadcasters. RTV Sarajevo and RTV Belgrade did not submit any songs that year. The winner was chosen by the votes of 10 juries in five cities and towns in each Yugoslav Republic, a total of 400 jurors. The winning song was "Tvoj dječak je tužan" performed by the Croatian singer Krunoslav Slabinac, written by Zvonimir Golob and composed by Ivan Krajač. Esma Redžepova
Esma Redžepova-Teodosievska (, ; 8 August 1943 – 11 December 2016) was a Macedonian Romani vocalist, songwriter and humanitarian. She was nicknamed "the Queen of the Gypsies" per her contribution to Romani culture and music. She started to sing while she was a teenager in the 1950s, and her career spans over five decades. Her musical success was closely linked to her marriage with Stevo Teodosievski, who was a composer, arranger and director of a musical ensemble Ansambl Teodosievski. He wrote many of her songs and fully managed her career until his death in 1997. Her musical style was mostly inspired by traditional Romani and Macedonian music. Some other influences are also noticeable, such as pop music. Esma Redžepova started her career at a period when Romani music was very denigrated in Yugoslavia and Romani people considered it shameful for women to sing in public. Yugoslav Radio Television (''Jugoslavenska radiotelevizija''/Југословенска радиотелевизија or ''Jugoslavenska radio-televizija''/Југословенска радио-телевизија; JRT/ЈРТ) was the national public broadcasting system in the SFR Yugoslavia.
