''Yaprak Dökümü'' (''The Fall of Leaves'' or ''The Falling Leaves'') is a Turkish television series. It is the adaptation of the 1930 novel of the same name by Reşat Nuri Güntekin. The series aired on Kanal D from September 13, 2006, to December 29, 2010, lasting 5 seasons and comprising 174 episodes. The show is set in Istanbul, Turkey, and it revolves around the fictional family Tekin, and how when they come to Istanbul that tears their family apart, and transforms them in a way they cannot imagine. Synopsis The series revolves around the fictional family Tekin as they move from Trabzon to Istanbul so that one of their daughters, Necla, can attend college. The family patriarch Ali Riza raises his children in harmony, teaching them on moral values and justice, missing to prepare them for the real cruelty of life. ''Yaprak Dökümü'' (''The Fall of Leaves'') is a novel by Turkish author and playwright Reşat Nuri Güntekin, written in 1930. It is available in an English translation by W. D. Halsey Plot summary The novel revolves around a middle-class Turkish family (the Tekins) in the 1930s. The main characters are Ali Riza Tekin (head of the Tekin family), his wife Hayriye, and their young daughters: Fikret (the oldest daughter), Leyla (the second daughter), Necla (the third daughter), Ayşe (their youngest daughter), their only son Şevket (who is between Fikret and Leyla), and his bride Ferhunde (who is also the principal antagonist). Trabzon
Trabzon, historically known as Trebizond, is a city on the Black Sea coast of northeastern Turkey and the capital of Trabzon Province. Kanal D (English: Channel D) is a nationwide television channel in Turkey that is part of Demirören Group. It was founded by Ayhan Şahenk and Aydın Doğan in 1993.
