Xi'an Jiaotong–Liverpool University
Xi’an Jiaotong–Liverpool University (XJTLU) is a joint-venture university in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China. It was founded in 2006 by a partnership between the University of Liverpool and Xi'an Jiaotong University. Undergraduate students at XJTLU earn two degrees: a degree from Xi’an Jiaotong–Liverpool University and a degree from the University of Liverpool. Postgraduate students only receive a degree from the University of Liverpool. History On 28 September 2004, Xi’an Jiaotong University and the University of Liverpool signed a cooperative agreement to set up XJTLU. Construction on the campus for the proposed university started in August 2005, and the university was inaugurated on 29 May 2006. About 160 undergraduates enrolled in the first year. This number has increased to around 9,000 students on campus and a further 3,000 at the University of Liverpool on "2+2 programmes".
