X Marks the Pedwalk (sometimes written as X-Marks the Pedwalk) is a German band whose styles range from post-industrial dance to electronic body music. X Marks the Pedwalk’s influence in the industrial and electronic music scenes was considerable during the 1990s, as they were one of the first and most popular acts from the now defunct record label, Zoth Ommog. History X Marks the Pedwalk – initially named "Scarecrow" – was founded by Sevren Ni-Arb (born André Schmechta, May 13, 1969) in 1987. Schmechta, who did the writing, production, and engineering of all X Marks the Pedwalk tracks, was the only consistent member throughout X Marks the Pedwalk’s history. Skinny Puppy was a Canadian electro-industrial band formed in Vancouver in 1982. The group was among the founders of the industrial rock and electro-industrial genres. Initially envisioned as an experimental side-project by cEvin Key (Kevin Crompton) while he was in the new wave band Images in Vogue, Skinny Puppy evolved into a full-time project with the addition of vocalist Nivek Ogre (Kevin Ogilvie). ''Freaks'' is the first full-length release by the German industrial music band X Marks the Pedwalk. It was originally released by Zoth Ommog in Europe as both an LP and CD, and was later released by Metropolis Records in North America with slightly different artwork and track list. Summary ''Freaks'', which was preceded by the "Abattoir" single, expanded on an already well-established sound for the band. Although it was their first full-length LP, the duo of Sevren Ni-arb and Regan Eracs had released three non-album singles plus "Abattoir", all through Germany's Zoth Ommog record label. Summary ''Danger/Disease Control'', is the second stand-alone single release by André Schmechta (Sevren Ni-Arb) and Jörg Böhme (Regan Eracs) under the band name X Marks the Pedwalk. The vinyl version, which included only the first three tracks, was released under the name ''Danger'' by Zoth Ommog records with the catalogue number ZOT 11. The CD version, which included all four songs, was also released by Zoth Ommog but with the catalogue number ZOT 11 CD, and was titled ''Disease Control''. Vomito Negro is a Belgian electronic band formed in 1983. The name is Spanish and Portuguese for "black vomit", a phenomenon that arises in the last stage of the disease yellow fever. History Guy Van Mieghem and Gin Devo were familiar with each other in the early eighties when Van Mieghem was involved in an obscure punk/new wave band. Circa 1983, after Van Mieghem was released from a stint in prison, Devo suggested that they work together musically towards the new EBM style.
