X's (album)
''X's'' is the third studio album by American ambient pop band Cigarettes After Sex. It was released on July 12, 2024, through Partisan Records. Recording sessions for the album took place from August 2020 to February 2022 in Los Angeles. It was supported by the release of three singles, "Tejano Blue", "Dark Vacay" and "Baby Blue Movie", along with its accompanying world tour, the X's World Tour. An ambient pop and shoegaze album, ''X's'' features ten tracks of music identical to "slow-dance pop ballads" of the 1970s and 1980s. Upon release, ''X's'' received generally favorable reviews from critics upon release. Cigarettes After Sex is an American dream pop band formed in El Paso, Texas, in 2008 by Greg Gonzalez. The band is known for their ethereal, limerent and often dream-like musical style, lyrics often based on the themes of romance and love, as well as Gonzalez's voice, which has been described as "androgynous". While marketed as an ambient pop band, Cigarettes After Sex are also considered to be shoegaze, slowcore and indie rock. The band's debut extended play (EP), ''I.'', was released in 2012, with the song "Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby" eventually becoming a sleeper hit through commercial licensing. "Como la Flor" ("Like the Flower") is a song that was recorded by American singer Selena for her third studio album ''Entre a Mi Mundo'' (1992). It was written by A. B. Quintanilla and Pete Astudillo. The song was conceptualized in 1982 after A. B. saw a family selling illuminated plastic flowers at a concert in Sacramento, California.
