William Young (Wisconsin Politician)
William Young (December 23, 1821 – November 24, 1890) was a member of the Wisconsin State Senate. He represented the 22nd District as a Democrat during the 1868 and 1869 sessions. Life His parents were Samuel Young (1797 – 1870) and Mary Young (''née'' Shangle) (1797 – 1882). He was of German ancestry, descended from the Jungs of New Jersey. Young arrived in Outagamie County, Wisconsin, in April 1848, in what is now Medina, where his cedar-log shanty became a stopping place for travellers going north. He bought land from Zebediah Hyde (one of the earliest white men to settle in the place) and built a large hotel and livery stable. The place was called Youngs' Corner, and grew into the village of Medina after Dale was constituted as a town in 1853. Wisconsin Senate, District 22
The 22nd Senate District of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin State Senate. Located in southeast Wisconsin, the district comprises parts of eastern Kenosha and Racine counties, including most of the cities of Racine and Kenosha, and parts of the villages of Mount Pleasant and Somers, east of Wisconsin Highway 31. 47th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment
The 47th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment was a volunteer infantry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Service The 47th Wisconsin was organized at Madison, Wisconsin, and mustered into Federal service on February 27, 1865, arriving at Louisville, Kentucky, on February 28. They then travelled to Nashville, then Tullahoma, Tennessee, at the junction of the McMinnville and Manchester Railroad with the Nashville and Chattanooga Railroad. They remained here on guard duty until August, when they returned to Nashville where they were mustered out. The regiment returned to Madison, Wisconsin, on September 4, 1865, where they were paid and disbanded. The 32nd Wisconsin Infantry Regiment was a volunteer infantry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Service The 32nd Wisconsin Infantry was organized at Camp Bragg in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and mustered into service on September 25, 1862. The regiment left Wisconsin for Memphis, Tennessee, on October 30 and moved through Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, the Carolinas, Virginia and Washington D.C. It participated in the Siege of Atlanta, Sherman's March to the Sea, the Battle of Bentonville and the surrender of the Confederate army.
