International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation
The International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) is the world governing body for all towed water sports. Founded in Geneva, Switzerland in 1946, it is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the sole authority governing all towed water sports and has 91 affiliated member federations worldwide. The IWWF is also an affiliate member of the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) and is one of the seven founding sports of the World Games. Nancie Rideout
Nancie Rideout Robertson (12 May 1938 – 21 January 1996) was an American professional water skier. During her competitive career, Rideout won the inaugural Masters and two World Championships in jump. Biography Rideout was born in Jackson, Michigan, and moved to Orlando, Florida at the age of 4. She started skiing after her father bought an outboard boat which came with a pair of water skis. Rideout's talents were noticed by Tommy Barlett, who added her as part of his traveling water ski show in 1955. The following year, she became a regular performer at Cypress Gardens. While performing in ski shows, Rideout was also exposed to competitive water skiing and became a prolific competitor. Notoriously a jumper, she won her first-ever jump tournament at the 1957 Dixie. In the same year, she also won the 1957 World Championships in jump. In 1958, Rideout dominated the field by winning all three events in every tournament she entered. George Joseph Cash (25 May 1937 – 13 July 1967) was an American professional water skier. During his career Cash won four Masters, three U.S. Nationals, and two World Championships. Biography Joe Cash was born on May 25, 1937, to James and Clara Cash in Shelbyville, TN. His family moved to Sarasota, FL in 1946, which happened to be a popular spot for waterskiing. He did not begin waterskiing until his parents bought him his first pair of skis for his 17th birthday, but within three years, he was competing in national and world championships. Cash got his first job when he joined the ski show at Sunshine Springs and Gardens near Sarasota. He moved on to become a star performer in the Cypress Gardens show, while simultaneously piling up tournament trophies. Princess Marina of Savoy (née Marina Ricolfi-Doria, born 12 February 1935) is a Swiss former water skier. She competed three times at the Water Ski World Championships winning gold medals in 1955 and in 1957. She won the overall title in the European Water Ski Championships consecutively from 1953 to 1956 and won five Swiss national titles. She was inducted into the International Water Ski Federation Hall of Fame in 1991. She is the widow of Vittorio Emanuele, Prince of Naples, the son of the last king and queen of Italy, Umberto II and Marie José. They had one son, Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy, Prince of Venice.
