Workers And Peasants' Socialist Party
The Workers and Peasants' Socialist Party (''Parti socialiste ouvrier et paysan'', ''PSOP'') was a socialist organisation in France, formed on June 8, 1938, by Marceau Pivert. Its youth wing was the ''Workers and Peasants' Socialist Youth'' (''Jeunesses Socialistes Ouvrières et Paysannes'' – JSOP). It developed out of a left-wing faction that was expelled from the '' Section Française de l'Internationale Ouvrière'' (SFIO), and named itself ''Gauche Révolutionnaire'' ("Revolutionary Left"). Alongside moderate Marxists, the party grouped Trotskyists (as an outcome of the French Turn) and Luxemburgists (such as René Lefeuvre). Marceau Pivert
Marceau Pivert (; 2 October 1895, Montmachoux, Seine-et-Marne – 3 June 1958, Paris) was a French schoolteacher, trade unionist, Socialism, socialist militant, and journalist. He was an alumnus of the École normale supérieure de Saint-Cloud. SFIO Active in the ''Syndicat National des Instituteurs'' (SNI), a staunch supporter of ''laïcité'' and a Pacifism, pacifist after service in World War I, Pivert joined the faction of the French Section of the Workers' International (SFIO) led by Léon Blum, which opposed affiliation to the Comintern in 1920, as opposed to the new French Communist Party (PCF). In the early 1930s, Pivert organised the most left-wing members of the SFIO in his ''Gauche Révolutionnaire'' ("Revolutionary Left") tendency of which Daniel Guérin was a member. Daniel Guérin (; 19 May 1904 – 14 April 1988) was a French libertarian-communist author, best known for his work '' Anarchism: From Theory to Practice'', as well as his collection ''No Gods No Masters: An Anthology of Anarchism'' in which he collected writings on the idea and movement it inspired, from the first writings of Max Stirner in the mid-19th century through the first half of the 20th century. He is also known for his opposition to Nazism, fascism, capitalism, imperialism and colonialism, in addition to his support for the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo (CNT) during the Spanish Civil War. His revolutionary defense of free love and homosexuality influenced the development of queer anarchism. He sought to combine the ideology of Marxism and anarchism. Popular Front (France)
The Popular Front (, ) was an alliance of left-wing movements in France, including the French Communist Party (PCF), the socialist SFIO and the Radical-Socialist Republican Party, during the interwar period. Three months after the victory of the Spanish Popular Front, the Popular Front won the May 1936 legislative election, leading to the formation of a government first headed by SFIO leader Léon Blum and composed of republican and SFIO ministers. Blum's government implemented various social reforms. Independent Labour Party
The Independent Labour Party (ILP) was a British political party of the left, established in 1893 at a conference in Bradford, after local and national dissatisfaction with the Liberal Party (UK), Liberals' apparent reluctance to endorse working-class candidates. A sitting independent MP and prominent union organiser, Keir Hardie, became its first chairman. The party played a key role in the formation of the Labour Representation Committee (1900), Labour Representation Committee, to which ILP members Hardie and Ramsay MacDonald were delegates at its foundation in 1900.
