Workers' Party (Brazil)
The Workers' Party (, PT) is a Centre-left politics, centre-left List of political parties in Brazil, political party in Brazil that is currently the country's ruling party. Some scholars classify its ideology in the 21st century as social democracy, with the party shifting from a broadly Socialism, socialist ideology in the 1990s, although the party retains a Left-wing politics, left-wing and marginal far-left faction to this day. Founded in 1980, PT governed at the federal level in a coalition government with several other parties from 1 January 2003 to 31 August 2016. After the 2002 Brazilian general election, 2002 parliamentary election, PT became the largest party in the Chamber of Deputies (Brazil), Chamber of Deputies and the largest in the Brazilian Senate, Federal Senate for the first time. Gleisi Hoffmann
Gleisi Helena Hoffmann (; born 6 September 1965) is a Brazilian lawyer and politician. She was the Chief of Staff of Brazil from 8 June 2011 to 2 February 2014, during the presidency of Dilma Rousseff. Following her tenure as Chief of Staff, she became a Senator for Paraná and in 2017 became national president of the Workers' Party. Biography Gleisi Hoffmann began her involvement in politics in the student movement during her youth, becoming a Workers' Party' member in 1989. She graduated in law in the Centro Universitário Curitiba (Faculdade de Direito de Curitiba). Known for her public management skills, Hoffmann has served as state secretary in Mato Grosso do Sul and as municipal secretary in the city of Londrina. "For the Freedom of Nations!" Movement (. The Progressive Alliance (PA) is a political international of progressive and social democratic political parties and organisations founded on 22 May 2013 in Leipzig, Germany. The alliance was formed as an alternative to the existing Socialist International, of which many of its member parties are former or current members. São Paulo Forum (FSP), also known as the Foro de São Paulo, is a conference of left-wing political parties and organizations from the Americas, primarily Latin America and the Caribbean. It was launched by the Workers' Party () of Brazil in 1990 in the city of São Paulo. The Forum of São Paulo was constituted in 1990, when the Brazilian Workers' Party approached other parties of Latin America and the Caribbean to debate the new international scenario after the fall of the Berlin Wall and rising adoption of some economic liberalization policies implemented at the time by right-leaning governments in the region.
