Woolooware is a suburb in southern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Woolooware is located south of the Sydney central business district in the Sutherland Shire. It shares the 2230 postcode with Cronulla. Woolooware stretches from Woolooware Bay in the north on the Georges River estuary to Burraneer Bay and Gunnamatta Bay in the south on the Hacking River and Port Hacking estuary. It borders the suburbs of Cronulla, Caringbah, Burraneer and Kurnell. History Woolooware is derived from the Aboriginal word , meaning muddy track. Caringbah railway station is a heritage-listed railway station located on the Cronulla line, serving the Sutherland Shire suburb of Caringbah. Caringbah was originally one of two stations on the single track, the other being Gymea. Town Hall railway station is a New South Wales State Heritage Register, heritage-listed underground suburban rail railway station, station located in the centre of the Sydney central business district in New South Wales, Australia. The station opened on 28 February 1932. It is named after the Sydney Town Hall, located directly above the station. History The station is built on the site of Sydney's earliest colonial cemetery, the Old Sydney Burial Ground. In 2008, part of this cemetery was being excavated from under the Town Hall. Rail Clearways Program
The Rail Clearways Programme was conceived in 2004 with the aim of easing congestion of Railways in Sydney, Sydney's suburban railway network, by reducing the amount of infrastructure shared by multiple services. The disparate projects at pinch points throughout the network were designed to increase passenger capacity and improve reliability. All projects were delivered by the Transport Construction Authority until it was subsumed in November 2011 by Transport for New South Wales. A new timetable was introduced in October 2013 that realised the benefit of many of the projects, and by January 2014 the programme was complete.
