Woni Language
Woni (; autonym: ') is a Hanoish languages, Southern Loloish language spoken in Zhenyuan Yi, Hani and Lahu Autonomous County and Xinping Yi and Dai Autonomous County of Yunnan, China. The most extensive description of Woni to date is that of Yang (2016). There are 5,406 speakers of Woni in south-central Yunnan, China. Yang (2016) covers the Woni dialect of Leda village (勒达村), Xinping County. Gao (1955) covers the dialect of Yangwu Town (扬武镇), Xinping County. Classification Yang (2016, 2021) classifies Woni as a Honi language, Hao-Bai (Haoni-Baihong) language. Shiping County () is a county in the Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture in southeastern Yunnan province, China. It is located about from Kunming, the provincial capital. The county has a population of approximately 280,000 and its area is . Shiping County is located in the northwest of Honghe Prefecture and borders Jianshui County to the east, Honghe County across the Honghe River to the south, Yuanjiang County and Xinping County to the west, and Tonghai County and Eshan County to the north. Loloish Language
The Loloish languages, also known as Yi (like the Yi people) and occasionally Ngwi or Nisoic, are a family of 50–100 Tibeto-Burman languages spoken primarily in the Yunnan province of Southwestern China. They are most closely related to Burmese and its relatives. Both the Loloish and Burmish branches are well defined, as is their superior node, Lolo-Burmese. However, sub-classification is more contentious.
