Women's Rugby League World Cup
The Women's Rugby League World Cup is an international rugby league tournament, contested by the women's national teams of the International Rugby League (IRL). The competition has been held since 2000 and was incorporated into the Festival of World Cups in 2008 until 2017 when it became a centrepiece event along with the Rugby League World Cup, men's competition. Under the current format, eight teams are separated into two groups of four with the top two in each group qualifying for the semi-finals. Throughout the six editions, the Women's Rugby League World Cup has been won by two teams. The Australian Women's Rugby League was the governing body of female rugby league in Australia and other parts of Oceania from its establishment in 1993 until December 2013, when its operations were integrated into the National Rugby League, under the Australian Rugby League Commission. Women's rugby league teams from Sydney, Illawarra and Canberra had played in weekend tournaments in 1991 and 1992.
