Women's Premier Soccer League Canada
The Women's Premier Soccer League Canada (WPSL Canada) is a proposed semi-professional women's soccer league in Canada. In 2021, it announced plans to begin play as a division 2 league, which would have made it the top league for women's soccer in the Canadian soccer league system at the time. Development of the proposed league was put on hold following the Northern Super League's announced plan of launching a Canadian women's professional soccer league in 2025. League structure The league shared plans to operate in two conferences: Canada West and Canada East. Clubs would have played matches each season against other clubs in their respective conferences, followed by conference playoffs and a national championship. The league would have worked with a limited partnership model as opposed to a membership model. Stephanie Lynn Marie Labbé (born October 10, 1986) is a Canadian retired professional soccer player who played as a goalkeeper. She won a bronze medal with Canada at the 2016 Rio Olympics, the NWSL Championship with the Courage in 2019, and a gold medal with Canada at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Amy Heather Walsh (born September 13, 1977) is a former midfielder for the Canada women's national soccer team. From 1997 to 2009, she played 102 matches for the national team. In May 2017, Walsh was inducted into the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame. Her sister, Cindy Walsh, also played for the Canadian women's team.
