Women's Lacrosse League
The Women's Lacrosse League (WLL; sponsor name Maybelline Women's Lacrosse League) is a professional lacrosse sixes league owned and organized by the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL). It is the sole professional lacrosse league for women in the United States. The WLL commenced play in 2025, with four clubs competing. Its matches are broadcast domestically by ESPN. History Prior to Athletes Unlimited Pro Lacrosse, two attempts at establishing a professional league for traditional women's lacrosse were made – the United Women's Lacrosse League (UWLX), and the Women's Professional Lacrosse League (WPLL). The UWLX was established by United Women's Sports in 2016, and played three seasons before quietly disbanding. Under the leadership of former UWLX Commissioner Michele DeJuliis, the WPLL played two seasons in 2018 and 2019, before its 2020 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, and collapsed as a result. 2025 Women's Lacrosse League Season
The 2025 season of the Women's Lacrosse League (WLL) was the league's inaugural year of play. Four teams competed in the WLL's 2025 tournaments: the Boston Guard, California Palms, Maryland Charm, and New York Charging. The season began with the #WLL Championship Series, 2025 WLL Championship Series in February, which was won by the Guard. United States Women's National Lacrosse Team
The United States women's national lacrosse team represents the United States in the World Lacrosse Women's World Championship held every four years. The team was first selected in 1933 after the United States Women's Lacrosse Association was founded in 1931. The team has won nine championships, including the last championship, which was in 2022. ''Get Up'' is an American sports talk morning television program hosted by Mike Greenberg that airs weekdays on ESPN. Michelle Beadle was one of the original hosts with Greenberg and Jalen Rose, but decided to leave the program in September 2018 to devote more time to ESPN's NBA coverage. Paul Rabil (born December 14, 1985) is an American Business executive, sports executive and retired professional lacrosse player. He is currently the president of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL), which he co-founded with his brother, league CEO Mike Rabil. Paul played collegiate lacrosse at Johns Hopkins University. He won All-America honors all four years and holds the record for most playoff goals, assists, and points. He won two championships in 2005 and 2007. In 2007, he won the McLaughlin_Award#Award_winners_by_year_(Division_I), McLaughlin Award as the nation's best midfielder, and was inducted into the Johns Hopkins Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022. Premier Lacrosse League Championship Series
The PLL Championship Series is an annual winter lacrosse tournament in the lacrosse sixes format. It is hosted by the Premier Lacrosse League. It features the top four teams in the regular season standings of the previous Premier Lacrosse League season. The inaugural championship series occurred in 2023. Announced in May 2022, the Championship Series was created for a variety of reasons: incentivize a teams regular season finishing position(as of 2023 only the last place team in the standings does not qualify for playoffs in the PLL), provide more playing opportunities for PLL players that do not play in the NLL, aid in the broader push for lacrosse's inclusion in the Olympics, and to create more inventory for the PLL's broadcasting partners.
