Women's Futsal World Tournament
The Women's Futsal World Tournament is an international women's futsal competition for national teams, organized by national associations and the World Futsal Association. The first edition took place in 2010 in Spain and was won by Brazil. The tournament has known no other winner besides Brazil, after the country's victories in the first six editions. The tournament is endorsed by national associations such as the Japan Football Association, Iranian Football Federation and FEDEFUT. FIFA runs the men's FIFA Futsal World Cup but not the Women's Futsal World Tournament. The FIFA Women's Futsal World Cup was announced in 2022. 2015 Women's Futsal World Tournament
The 2015 Women's Futsal World Tournament was the sixth edition of the Women's Futsal World Tournament, the premier world championship for women's national futsal teams. The venue was Domo Polideportivo de la CDAG in Guatemala City. The competition was won by Brazil, winner of all the editions disputed until then. Iran's Niloufar Ardalan notably defied a travel ban to take part in the 2015 tournament after her husband did not approve of her leaving Iran. 2012 Women's Futsal World Tournament
The 2012 Women's Futsal World Tournament was the third edition of the Women's Futsal World Tournament, the premier world championship for women's national futsal teams. It was held in Oliveira de Azeméis, Portugal, from 3 to 9 December 2012, and matches were played at the Pavilhão Dr. Salvador Machado and Pavilhão Municipal de Oliveira de Azeméis. Brazil won its third consecutive world title after defeating the Portuguese hosts in the final by a 3–0 score. A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same. In some sports, this extra period is played only if the game is required to have a clear winner, as in single-elimination tournaments where only one team or players can advance to the next round or win the tournament. Three points for a win is a standard used in many sports leagues and group tournaments, especially in association football, in which three points are awarded to the team winning a match, with no points awarded to the losing team. If the game is drawn, each team receives one point. Many leagues and competitions originally awarded two points for a win and one point for a draw, before switching to the three points for a win system.
