Dan Witz
Dan Witz (born 1957) is a Brooklyn, New York City, NY based street artist and realist painter. He grew up in Chicago, IL, and graduated in 1981 from Cooper Union, on New York City's Lower East Side. Witz, consistently active since the late 1970s, is one of the pioneers of the street art movement. Dan Witz's paintings have been shown in galleries throughout the US and Europe. In June 2010 a monograph, "Dan Witz. In Plain View. 30 Years of Artworks Illegal and Otherwise", was published by Ginkgo press. Career Dan Witz received a National Endowment of the Arts grant, in 1983, and fellowships from the New York Foundation of the Arts, in 1992 and 2000 In 1983 Dan Witz's first book, "The Birds of Manhattan" was published by Skinny Books. Konrad Witz
Konrad Witz (ca.1400/1410 – winter 1445/spring 1446) was a German and Swiss painter, active mainly in Basel. Life He was born probably in Rottweil, Germany. In 1434 he entered the painters’ guild in Basel, where he worked most of his life. On 10 January 1435 he acquired Basel citizenship. Sometime afterward he married Ursula Treyger, a niece of the painter Nikolaus Ruesch. Witz is recorded as dead in a document of 1446. Emanuel Witz
Emanuel Witz (27 June 1717 – 11 December 1797) was a Swiss painter, born in Biel. Witz was inspired by his brother (a sculptor) to apply himself to drawing. He subsequently received drawing lessons from Johann Rudolf Huber in Bern. In 1738, he moved to Paris where he continued his education under instructions of the painter Louis Galloche. He made friends with Edmé Bouchardon, François Boucher, Pierre-Jacques Cazes, Charles Joseph Natoire and Charles André van Loo. Afterwards he worked in Spain and Portugal as a portrait painter, historical painter and genre painter. Witz is a novel by Joshua Cohen. Plot summary In ''Witz'', Joshua Cohen calls all religious Jews "Affiliated". After the sabbath meal a week before Christmas, Benjamin is born to Israel and Hanna Israelien in Joysey, the first son after 12 girls. This winter is particularly hard and in fact persists year round. Benjamin is born full grown (by a method explored by Flann O'Brien in ''At Swim-Two-Birds''), with a beard and glasses. Gene Simmons (born Chaim Witz; ; born August 25, 1949) also known by his stage persona "The Demon", is an Israeli-born American musician. He was the bassist and co-lead singer of the hard rock band Kiss, which he co-founded with Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss in the early 1970s until their retirement in 2023. Simmons was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014 as a member of Kiss. Sergio Witz Rodríguez (born 1962 in Campeche, Campeche) is a Mexican poet. His literary work has been recognized by Mexico's National Fund for Culture and Arts (FONCA), a government agency that promotes the arts and culture by funding promising talents. Witz was the winner of the 1994 Tabasco Poetry Prize. He is the author of "Como hierba ardiente," "Ciudad de paso" and "Mi odio por los barcos." Kwik Witz is an American syndicated comedy program which aired in syndication, mainly on numerous NBC affiliate stations—usually in the time-slot following ''Saturday Night Live''. The show originated from the NBC Tower studios of WMAQ-TV in Chicago, Illinois and was produced by Beau & Arrow Productions. The show shared studio space with ''The Jenny Jones Show'', which was located immediately across from ''The Jerry Springer Show'' studio.
