The 96th Assembly district of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in western Wisconsin, the district comprises all of Vernon County, Wisconsin, Vernon County and part of southwest La Crosse County, Wisconsin, La Crosse County. It includes part of the south side of the city of La Crosse, Wisconsin, La Crosse and the cities of Hillsboro, Wisconsin, Hillsboro, Viroqua, Wisconsin, Viroqua, and Westby, Wisconsin, Westby, along with the villages of Chaseburg, Wisconsin, Chaseburg, Coon Valley, Wisconsin, Coon Valley, Genoa, Wisconsin, Genoa, La Farge, Wisconsin, La Farge, Ontario, Wisconsin, Ontario, Readstown, Wisconsin, Readstown, and Stoddard, Wisconsin, Stoddard. Stoddard, Wisconsin
Stoddard ( ) is a village in Vernon County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 840 at the 2020 census. History Stoddard was founded as a farming community. It is notable as one of the few communities along the Mississippi River that was never a trading post or a riverboat stop. The river was originally one mile west of Stoddard, but when Lock and Dam No. 8 was built in 1937, the ensuing lake flooded the lowlands, literally bringing the river to the town. David Clarenbach
David E. Clarenbach (born September 26, 1953) is a Wisconsin Democratic politician and gay activist who served nine terms in the Wisconsin State Assembly and as Speaker pro tempore for ten years. Early life and education Clarenbach was born in St. Louis, Missouri and spent his kindergarten year in New York City before his parents moved to Madison. While in high school in Madison public schools, Clarenbach got involved in an effort to place student representatives on the Madison School Board, and in 1969, at age 16, he spent his spring break registering voters in rural Mississippi. Bernard Lewison
Bernard Lewison (February 7, 1902 – January 13, 1984) was an American politician and businessman. Born in Viroqua, Wisconsin, Lewison went to Lawrence University. He was a farmer, automobile dealer, body shop owner, saving and loan director, and real estate broker. Lewis served on the Vernon County, Wisconsin Board of Supervisors, the Viroqua Common Council, and was Mayor of Viroqua 1943–1948. Lewison served in the Wisconsin State Assembly 1955–1957, 1961–1981 as a Republican. State Trunk Highway 56 (often called Highway 56, STH-56 or WIS 56) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. It runs east–west in southwest Wisconsin from just north of Richland Center to Genoa. On some maps, it is listed as ending inside Richland Center, instead of just north of it.
