Abner Wimberly
Abner Wimberly (May 4, 1926 – September 18, 1976) was an American football player who played three seasons for the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL). He also played one season in the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) with the Los Angeles Dons. He played college football at Louisiana State University. He was inducted into the Louisiana State University Athletic Hall of Fame, LSU Athletics Hall of Fame in 1949. Wimberly died on September 18, 1976, in Oak Ridge, Louisiana, from injuries he received in the crash of a private Piper Aircraft, Piper aircraft. He and four other men from Oak Ridge were returning from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Baton Rouge where they had attended the LSU Tigers football, LSU – Oregon State Beavers football, Oregon State football game. Anthony Wimberly
Anthony Rene Wimberly (né Lee; born October 26, 1962) is an American criminal and serial killer. Between December 1984 and January 1985, he murdered three women in Oakland for the purpose of robbery, as well as raping a 12-year-old girl. After his arrest, he confessed to his crimes and was later given three life sentences. Early life and crimes Wimberly was born as Anthony Rene Lee on October 26, 1962, to Ray Lee, an employee for the Pacific Gas and Electric Company from Antioch, and Gwendolyn Williams, who was jobless and on welfare. A year after his birth, his mother married to A.D. Wimberly from Oakland, but the couple divorced when Anthony was little. His mother then moved away so she could work at nursing homes in Tacoma, Washington and Minnesota, returning to Oakland when he was nine years old. Adlai Byron "By" Wimberly (September 3, 1892 – May 12, 1956) was an American football player and coach of football, basketball, and baseball. He played college football at Washington & Jefferson College and professionally for the Detroit Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). Wimberly served as the head football coach at Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania (1919), Illinois Wesleyan University (1921–1922), and Washington University in St. Louis (1923–1924), compiling a career college football coaching record of 19–18–4. Corey Leshaad Wimberly (born October 26, 1983) is an American former professional baseball infielder, outfielder, and manager who works in the minor league system of the New York Mets as an outfield coach/baserunning coordinator for the Triple-A Syracuse Mets. Wimberly spent ten seasons playing in the minor leagues as an infielder and outfielder, including four seasons at the Triple-A level, before retiring after the 2016 season.
