Wilson (footballer, Born 1927)
Wilson Francisco Alves - also known as Wilson only - (21 December 1927 – 12 July 1998) was a Brazilian football player and manager. The defender had his greatest successes with CR Vasco da Gama in the 1940s and 1950s, a club then known as ''Expresso da Vitória''. With the Brazil national team he won a South American Championship. A highlight of his coaching years was the winning of a State Championship of Paraná. He was a great Brazilian footballer. Career Born Rio de Janeiro, Wilson started to play at the age of 16 with the local club EC São José in Rio de Janeiro. From 1943 to 1952 he was part of CR Vasco da Gama, where he won five State Championships of Rio de Janeiro. Augusto Da Costa
Augusto da Costa (22 October 1920 – 1 March 2004), sometimes known as just Augusto, was a Brazilian footballer who played for the Brazil national football team. He captained the Brazil team to the 1950 FIFA World Cup final leading them to become the runners-up of the tournament after losing to Uruguay. He was born in Rio de Janeiro. He started his career in 1936, with São Cristóvão, leaving the club in 1944. In 1945 he joined Vasco, retiring in 1954. He played 18 games for the Brazil national team and scored one goal. Flávio Costa
Flávio Rodrigues da Costa (14 September 1906 – 22 November 1999) was a Brazilian football player and manager. He managed the Rio de Janeiro clubs Vasco da Gama and Flamengo, as well as Colo Colo of Chile, and FC Porto of Portugal. Costa coached the Brazilian squad at the 1950 FIFA World Cup; the loss against Uruguay has been described as Brazil's greatest humiliation of the 20th century. As a consequence of his World Cup failure, he lost his prestige among the Brazilian press and supporters of the national team. However, he was again manager of the Brazilian team in 1955 and in 1956. He died in Rio de Janeiro in November 1999. Ondino Viera
Ondino Leonel Viera Palasérez (10 September 1901 – 27 June 1997), in Brazil also known as ''Ondino Vieira'', was a Uruguayan football manager. He was the first coach to use a 4-2-4 in Brazil. In his long-lasting career he won between the 1930s and 1960s important titles with clubs in Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay. With the national team of Paraguay he reached second spot at the Copa América of 1963 and at the World Cup of 1966 in England he led Uruguay into the quarterfinals. He was the manager of the Uruguay national team during the 1966 FIFA World Cup. His son, Milton, was also in the World Cup squad. Alfredo Stéfano Di Stéfano Laulhé (; 4 July 1926 – 7 July 2014) was an Argentine professional footballer and coach who played as a forward, widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time. Nicknamed "Saeta Rubia" ("Blond Arrow"), he is best known for his achievements with Real Madrid, where he was instrumental in the club's domination of the European Cup and La Liga during the 1950s and 1960s. Along with Francisco Gento and José María Zárraga, he was one of only three players to play a part in all five European Cup victories, scoring goals in each of the five finals. The CONMEBOL Libertadores, also known as Copa Libertadores de América (), is an annual continental club football competition organized by CONMEBOL since 1960. It is the highest level of competition in South American club football. The tournament is named after the '' Libertadores'' (Spanish and Portuguese for ''liberators''), the leaders of the Spanish American wars of independence and Brazilian Independence, so a literal translation of its former name into English is "''Liberators of America Cup''". The South American Championship of Champions (, ) was a football competition played in Santiago, Chile in 1948 and the first continental-wide clubs football tournament in South America. Hosted and organized by Chilean club Colo Colo with the aid of then president of CONMEBOL Luis Valenzuela, it was played between February 11 and March 17. Brazil's Vasco da Gama won the competition after earning the most points in the round-robin tournament.
