Whose Line Is It Anyway
''Whose Line Is It Anyway?'' is a short-form improvisational comedy show created by Dan Patterson and Mark Leveson. The three major versions of the show are the original 1988 British radio programme (from which all subsequent versions are adapted), the British television programme, which ran from 1988 to 1999, and the American television programme, which ran from 1998 to 2007 and was revived in 2013. All three versions were produced by Patterson and Leveson and have a continuity of cast (for example, both the British radio and television shows were hosted by Clive Anderson, while several performers from the British television show then starred in the American television show). Each version of the show consists of a panel of four performers who create characters, scenes, and songs on the spot, in the style of short-form improvisation games, many taken from theatresports. Dan Patterson
Dan Patterson (born March 1960) is a British television producer and writer, best known as co-creator, alongside Mark Leveson, and producer of both the British and American incarnations of the comedy improvisation show ''Whose Line Is It Anyway? (UK TV series), Whose Line Is It Anyway?'' and the British satirical comedy panel show ''Mock the Week''. Patterson and Leveson created ''Whose Line Is It Anyway?'' initially as a 6-episode radio show for the BBC in 1988. Later that year, the show moved to television on Channel 4, running for 136 episodes over the next ten years. An American version then ran on American Broadcasting Company, ABC from 1998 to 2007, before returning on The CW in 2013. In 2005, Patterson and Leveson created ''Mock the Week'', which ran on the BBC until 2022, with 245 episodes in total. Wayne Brady
Wayne Alphonso Brady (born June 2, 1972) is an American comedian, actor, and singer. He is a regular cast member on the American version of the improvisational comedy television series '' Whose Line Is It Anyway?'' He was the host of the daytime talk show '' The Wayne Brady Show'', the original host of Fox's '' Don't Forget the Lyrics!'', and he has hosted '' Let's Make a Deal'' since its 2009 revival. ''Wild 'n Out'' is an American sketch comedy and battle rap improv game show television series created and hosted by musician and comedian Nick Cannon currently airing on VH1. It debuted on July 28, 2005, on MTV. Premise Similar in premise to shows such as '' Whose Line Is It Anyway?'', the series puts two teams of comedians against each other in a series of ''Wild 'n Out'' games which are all basically "improvisational" comedy games. The Teams are the "Red Squad", which was the team name until Season 5 where they became the "Platinum Squad" and were permanently captained by Cannon; and the "Black Squad", led by a celebrity guest until Season 7 where the situation was reversed with Cannon becoming the Black Squad team captain and the celebrity guest leading the Platinum Squad. TVNorge (literally "TVNorway"; originally abbreviated TVN, now just abbreviated N in the logos) is a Norwegian television channel owned by Warner Bros. Discovery EMEA. History TVNorge went on the air on 5 December 1988 and was the first advertising-supported Norwegian channel. The channel was started with 50 000 NOK. The first broadcast was a live variety show from Oslo Cabaret with Swedish singer Lill-Babs and Norwegian pop group Tomboy as musical guests. TV3 (Norway)
TV3 Norway is a commercial television channel targeting Norway owned by Viaplay Group. It was separated from the earlier Pan-Scandinavian version in 1990. Unlike its main rivals, NRK, TV 2 and TVNorge, the channel does not broadcast from Norway but from West Drayton, Middlesex in the United Kingdom, even if the channel is almost solely aimed at Norwegian viewers. This excludes the channel from the strict rules in Norway that apply to advertising (ban on advertisements aimed at children or interrupting programs). Also unlike the other main channels, it wasn't available on analogue terrestrial, having to rely on satellite and cable television for its distribution. ''Schillerstraße'' ("Schiller Street") was a German improvisational comedy show that aired weekly on Sat.1. It was recorded without a script and broadcast unedited to a large extent. The American broadcaster Fox has earned the licence for ''Schillerstraße'' and is to produce its own series. Idea and show structure The setting of the show is the living room of the main actor (until 2008 Cordula Stratmann, in 2009 Jürgen Vogel - all the actors keep their real names) who lives on the fictional street "Schillerstraße" in Cologne, Germany. The main character is regularly visited by friends and relatives. The participants only know the topic of the episode in advance. The whole plot has to be improvised comically. Mark Uytterhoeven
Mark Uytterhoeven (born 6 March 1957) is a Belgian television presenter, TV scriptwriter, actor, comedian and former sports journalist. Uytterhoeven started his career at the Flemish public TV channel BRT (nowadays VRT), where he was a sports journalist. In 1991 he hosted the humorous TV talk show ''Het Huis van Wantrouwen'', alongside Wouter Vandenhaute. The show was a ratings hit and praised for its innovative style.
