The men's singles wheelchair tennis tournament at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo was held at the Ariake Tennis Park in Kōtō, Tokyo from 27 August to 4 September 2021. Japan's Shingo Kunieda defeated the Netherlands' Tom Egberink in the final, 6–1, 6–2 to win the gold medal in men's singles wheelchair tennis at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. It was his third Paralympic singles gold medal, and fourth Paralympic gold overall. Ariake Coliseum
is an indoor arena, indoor sporting arena in Ariake Tennis Park located in Ariake, Tokyo, Ariake, Kōtō, Tokyo, Japan. It has a capacity of 10,000 and is one of the few professional tennis venues which has a retractable roof. When Ariake Coluseum first opened, it had no roof, but its sliding roof was installed in April 1991, making it the first stadium in Japan with a retractable roof, and the third overall after the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne and the SkyDome in Toronto. Stéphane Houdet (born 20 November 1970) is a French wheelchair tennis player. Houdet is a former singles and doubles world number one. In 2014, he became the first man in history to complete the calendar-year Grand Slam in men's wheelchair doubles. He competed in wheelchair tennis at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. In July 2022, Houdet was suspended from competition after missing three anti-doping tests in a 12-month window. 2013 Houdet won two titles in the 2013 season with the victories achieved in Johannesburg and Sardinia. He was a losing finalist in Pensacola, Rome, Nottingham, St Louis and Rue. Houdet also won two Grand Slam singles titles at Roland Garros and New York and was the runner-up in Melbourne. Daniel Javier Caverzaschi Arzola (born 11 July 1993) is a Spanish wheelchair tennis player. He has represented Spain in 2012, 2016, 2020 and 2024 Summer Paralympics. He won a bronze medal at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in the Men's doubles event. Personal Caverzaschi was born on 11 July 1993 in Madrid, missing most of his right leg from the knee down.
