Westphalia Cup
The Westphalia Cup is a German football club Cup competition open to teams from the Westphalia region of the North Rhine-Westphalia state. The competition in its existing format is relatively new compared to many other regional cups in Germany. It is one of the Verbandspokal, 21 regional cup competitions in Germany. The competition also acts as a qualifier to the following seasons' DFB-Pokal. Westfalia Herne
SC Westfalia Herne is a German football club based in Herne, North Rhine-Westphalia. The club was founded on 13 June 1904 by the sons of the more well-heeled residents of the city as a rival to the worker-based club SV Sodingen. History After World War I and occupation of the Ruhr by the French in 1923, the club was dissolved, but still carried on unofficially. It was reconstituted in 1925 through fusion with ''Fortuna Herne'' to play as ''Westfalia Fortuna Herne''. The union was good for the club, which advanced to upper league play in 1930, and made it as far as the semi-finals in the national championship the next season. When German football was reorganized under the Third Reich, ''Herne'' was not selected for play in the first tier Gauliga Westfalen, but did manage to play their way into the premier circuit the next year. VfL Bochum II (also known as VfL Bochum Amateure, VfL Bochum U-21 or VfL Bochum U-23) is the reserve team of German football club VfL Bochum. The team has made two appearances in the first round of the DFB-Pokal, in 1984–85 and 2005–06. Since 2008 the team has been playing in the tier four Regionalliga West. Sportfreunde Siegen
Sportfreunde Siegen is a German association football club based in Siegen, North Rhine-Westphalia. After going through insolvency in 2008, the first team was forcibly relegated to the fifth-tier NRW-Liga. Promotion to fourth division Regionalliga West was accomplished in 2012, but the club continued to struggle while going back and forth between fourth and fifth league play. In 2017, the club had to file for insolvency for a second time. The club's home ground is the Leimbachstadion, an arena that can host up to 18,500 people. SG Wattenscheid 09 is a Football in Germany, German association football club located in Wattenscheid, Bochum, North Rhine-Westphalia. The club claimed an official founding date of 18 September 1909 as Ballspiel-Verein Wattenscheid out of the merger of two earlier sides known as BV Sodalität der Wattenscheid and BV Teutonia Wattenscheid. Rot Weiss Ahlen is a football in Germany, German football club based in Ahlen, North Rhine-Westphalia. Turn- und Spielgemeinde e.V. Dülmen is a sports club from the town of Dülmen in Westphalia. FC Schalke 04 II are the reserve team of German association football club FC Schalke 04. Until 2005 the team played as FC Schalke 04 Amateure. The team has qualified for the first round of the DFB-Pokal, the German Cup, on two occasions. They currently play in the tier four Regionalliga West. History The team first made an appearance in the highest football league in Westphalia when it won promotion to the tier three Verbandsliga Westfalen in 1964 but was relegated again in 1966. SC Verl is a German association football club based in Verl, North Rhine-Westphalia. The club was founded on 6 September 1924, and since 1970 has consistently played in the higher echelons of amateur football. The club was promoted to the professional 3. Liga in 2020. History After almost 50 years of comparably insignificant existence, SC Verl advanced to the Landesliga Westfalen (IV) in 1970. Since then, SC Verl have been relegated only once (in 2003), qualified for newly introduced higher-class leagues three times out of four, won their league twice, and played the promotion round for 2.
