Weights
Weight is a measurement of the gravitational force acting on an object. Weight or The Weight may also refer to: Mathematics * Weight (graph theory) a number associated to an edge or to a vertex of a graph * Weight (representation theory), a type of function * Weight (strings), the number of times a letter occurs in a string * Weight, an integer associated to each variable of a quasi-homogeneous polynomial * Weight of a topological space; see base * Weighting, making some data contribute to a result more than others ** Weight function ** Weighted mean and weighted average, the importance can vary on each piece of data ** Weighting filter Science and technology * Weight (unit), a former English unit * Weight, a connection strength, or coefficient in a linear combination, as in an artificial neural network * Weight, a measure of paper density * Body weight, a commonly used term for the mass of an organism's body * Font weight * Line weight in contour line construction in cartog ...

Weight (representation Theory)
In the mathematics, mathematical field of representation theory, a weight of an algebra over a field, algebra ''A'' over a field (mathematics), field F is an algebra homomorphism from ''A'' to F, or equivalently, a one-dimensional algebra representation, representation of ''A'' over F. It is the algebra analogue of a multiplicative character of a group (mathematics), group. The importance of the concept, however, stems from its application to Lie algebra representation, representations of Lie algebras and hence also to group representation, representations of Algebraic group, algebraic and Lie groups. In this context, a weight of a representation is a generalization of the notion of an eigenvalue, and the corresponding eigenspace is called a weight space. Motivation and general concept Given a set ''S'' of n \times n matrix (mathematics), matrices over the same field, each of which is diagonalizable matrix, diagonalizable, and any two of which commuting matrices, commute, it is alw ...

Weight
In science and engineering, the weight of an object is a quantity associated with the gravitational force exerted on the object by other objects in its environment, although there is some variation and debate as to the exact definition. Some standard textbooks define weight as a Euclidean vector, vector quantity, the gravitational force acting on the object. Others define weight as a scalar quantity, the magnitude of the gravitational force. Yet others define it as the magnitude of the reaction (physics), reaction force exerted on a body by mechanisms that counteract the effects of gravity: the weight is the quantity that is measured by, for example, a spring scale. Thus, in a state of free fall, the weight would be zero. In this sense of weight, terrestrial objects can be weightless: so if one ignores Drag (physics), air resistance, one could say the legendary apple falling from the tree, on its way to meet the ground near Isaac Newton, was weightless. The unit of measurement fo ...

Ballast
Ballast is dense material used as a weight to provide stability to a vehicle or structure. Ballast, other than cargo, may be placed in a vehicle, often a ship or the gondola of a balloon or airship, to provide stability. A compartment within a boat, ship, submarine, or other floating structure that holds water is called a ballast tank. Water should be moved in and out from the ballast tank to balance the ship. In a vessel that travels on the water, the ballast will be kept below the water level, to counteract the effects of weight above the water level. The ballast may be redistributed in the vessel or disposed of altogether to change its effects on the movement of the vessel. History The basic concept behind the ballast tank can be seen in many forms of aquatic life, such as the blowfish or members of the argonaut group of octopus. The concept has been invented and reinvented many times by humans to serve a variety of purposes. In the fifteenth and sixteenth century, the ...

Weight Training
Strength training, also known as weight training or resistance training, is exercise designed to improve physical strength. It is often associated with the lifting of weights. It can also incorporate techniques such as bodyweight exercises (e.g., push-ups, pull-ups, and squats), isometrics (holding a position under tension, like planks), and plyometrics (explosive movements like jump squats and box jumps). Training works by progressively increasing the force output of the muscles and uses a variety of exercises and types of equipment. Strength training is primarily an anaerobic activity, although circuit training also is a form of aerobic exercise. Strength training can increase muscle, tendon, and ligament strength as well as bone density, metabolism, and the lactate threshold; improve joint and cardiac function; and reduce the risk of injury in athletes and the elderly. For many sports and physical activities, strength training is central or is used as part of their ...

Rollins has said that he conceived several song lyrics and musical ideas on his way to band practice in New York. In a 1997 interview, he further recalled that "a lot of the initial songs, like a big hunk of them, were written really fast. 'Volume 4', 'Fool', 'Disconnect', and 'Liar' were written in like two days. Then there's another burst that gave us another hunk. Then they were groomed, argued over, mantled, dismantled, different bridge sections put in. Then the rest of t ...
