Warwickshire Women's Cricket Team
The Warwickshire Women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for the English historic county of Warwickshire. They play their home games at Edgbaston Foundation Sports Ground, Birmingham, and are captained by Marie Kelly. In 2019, they won the Women's Twenty20 Cup. They are partnered with the regional side Central Sparks. History 1937–2000: Early History Warwickshire Women played their first recorded match in 1937, against Australia, which they lost by 7 wickets. Warwickshire went on to play various one-off matches, including regular matches against Surrey. Alistair Maiden
Alistair Jonathan Maiden (born 15 September 1982) is an English cricket coach. Maiden was a right-handed Batsman (cricket), batsman, born in Stourbridge, Worcestershire. While studying for his degree in Management at Durham University, Maiden made his first-class cricket, first-class debut for Durham University Centre of Cricketing Excellence, Durham UCCE against Lancashire County Cricket Club, Lancashire in 2002. He made eight first-class appearances, the last of which came against Durham in 2005. In his nine first-class matches for the university, he scored 448 runs at an batting average (cricket), average of 37.33, with a high score of 211 not out. This score, which was his only first-class century (cricket), century, came against Somerset County Cricket Club, Somerset in 2005. 2001 Women's County Championship
The 2001 Women's County One-Day Championship was the 5th cricket Women's County Championship season. It took place in July and August and saw 20 county teams compete in a series of divisions. Yorkshire Women won the County Championship as winners of the top division, achieving their fourth Championship title in five seasons. Competition format Teams played matches within a series of divisions with the winners of the top division being crowned County Champions. Matches were played using a one day format with 50 overs per side. The championship works on a points system with positions within the divisions being based on the total points. Points were awarded as follows: Win: 12 points. Tie: 6 points. Loss: Bonus points. No Result: 11 points. Abandoned: 11 points. Up to five batting and five bowling points per side were also available. Anisha Anil Patel (born 17 August 1995) is an English cricketer who currently plays for Warwickshire. She plays as a right-arm leg break bowler. Domestic career Patel made her county debut in 2012, for Warwickshire against Lancashire, in which she took 1/10 from 5 overs. In the 2013 Women's Twenty20 Cup, she took 5 wickets at an average of just 5.20, and a season later she was Warwickshire's joint-leading wicket-taker in the same tournament, with 6 wickets at an average of 14.00. In 2015, she took 8 wickets at an average of 18.62 in the County Championship. In 2017 and 2018, Patel was Warwickshire's leading wicket-taker in the County Championship, with 14 and 10 wickets, respectively. Somerset Women Cricket Team
The Somerset Women cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for the English ceremonial county of Somerset. They play their home games at various grounds across Somerset, most often in Taunton, and are captained by Emily Edgcombe. Somerset consistently competed in either Division 1 or Division 2 of the Women's County Championship, and won Division 2 of the Women's Twenty20 Cup in 2019. In 2021, they won the West Midlands Group of the Twenty20 Cup. They were formerly partnered with the regional team Western Storm. Bethan Louisa Ellis (born 7 July 1999) is an English cricketer who currently plays for Warwickshire. She plays primarily as a right-arm medium bowler, as a well as a right-handed top-order batter. She has previously played for Shropshire, Worcestershire, Derbyshire, Lightning and Central Sparks. Early life Ellis was born on 7 July 1999, and grew up in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. She has a degree in Sports Science from the University of Birmingham. Gwenan Mai Davies (born 12 May 1994) is a Welsh cricketer who currently plays for Warwickshire. She plays as a wicket-keeper and left-handed batter, as well as occasionally bowling right-arm medium-fast. The 2017 Women's County One-Day Championship was the 21st cricket Women's County Championship season. It ran from April to August and saw 33 county teams and teams representing Scotland, Wales and the Netherlands compete in a series of divisions. Lancashire Women won the County Championship as winners of the top division with Yorkshire finishing runners-up. 2016 Women's County Championship
The 2016 Women's County One-Day Championship was the 20th cricket Women's County Championship season. The Championship was won by Kent who recorded their seventh championship, setting a new record for the number of championships won. The runners-up were Sussex. This was the last season in which Division 4 was contested. Following a reorganisation of the structure of the tournament, all the teams in Division 4 were promoted to an expanded Division 3 in 2017.
