Warwickshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class cricket, first-class county cricket, county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the Historic counties of England, historic county of Warwickshire. Founded in 1882, the club held minor counties of English and Welsh cricket, minor status until it was elevated to first-class in 1894 pending its entry into the County Championship in 1895.Since then, Warwickshire have played in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England. Warwickshire currently competes in four main competitions. In the County Championship, they compete in Division One (the top division), and last won it outright in 2021 (for a total of eight championship wins). Warwickshire (; abbreviated Warks) is a ceremonial county in the West Midlands of England. Bob Willis Trophy
The Bob Willis Trophy was a domestic first-class cricket competition in England and Wales for the eighteen first-class counties, organised by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). It was established in the 2020 English cricket season. The tournament was named the Bob Willis Trophy in honour of former England cricket captain and fast bowler Bob Willis, who died in December 2019. While in 2020 it was promoted as being a one-off competition, the Bob Willis Trophy was contested again in 2021 as a five-day final between the top two teams in County Championship Division One. In January 2022, the ECB announced that the Bob Willis Trophy would not be played to end that year's championship; managing director of county cricket Neil Snowball said that the ECB was discussing the future format of the trophy with Willis's family. Birmingham Phoenix are a franchise 100-ball cricket side based in the city of Birmingham. The Hundred is a professional cricket league in the United Kingdom. It is the only cricket league in the world that uses the 100-ball cricket format. It is organised by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and played during July and August each year. The competition is one of the four cricket tournaments organised by the ECB, alongside the County Championship, the One-Day Cup and the T20 Blast. The T20 Blast, officially known as the Vitality Blast for sponsorship reasons, is a professional Twenty20 cricket league in England and Wales. The competition was established by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003. T20 Blast is the oldest domestic T20 league in the world. One-Day Cup (England)
The One-Day Cup, currently known as the Metro Bank One Day Cup, is a fifty-over limited overs cricket competition for the England and Wales first-class counties. It began in 2014 as a replacement for the ECB 40 tournament, which ran from 2010 to 2013. In contrast to its 40-over predecessor, the number of overs per innings was set at 50 to bring the competition in line with One-Day Internationals. The 2020 tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Format The competition begins with a round-robin tournament featuring two groups of nine. The groups were organised geographically with a North group and a South group until 2021, since when the groups have been decided by a draw. The National Counties, known as the Minor Counties before 2020, are the cricketing counties of England and Wales that do not have first-class status. The game is administered by the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA), which comes under the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
